have called up many times to see if they can take my mum in and they know full well about the history as she is a former patient and they have said for the past 3 days that it’s okay for her to come up and she can get the help she needs. lol that’s what they said but are no haha ofc they aren’t the first time we finally got her to agree to come and it’s not a nice place for her to be and then they had to let us down and told us to wait 3 hours after saying it’s okay for us to bring her up. the next day comes and they come visit us and it’s was pointless as they then said you will get a call at 8:00pm (they said this at 2:00pm) so they come and told us they had room for her to go up so we arrange to take her up they took abit of convincing and then they said…. sorry but there isn’t actually a bed so we will get in touch tomorrow… just waiting and waiting and waiting and all this waiting is not making her any better and they know everything that’s going on as ofc we told them everything as it’s just getting worse by the day. do they really care about helping people isn’t that your job? and still as i’m writing this on the 3rd day (been going on for weeks) still haven’t heard anything off them. absolutely ridiculous
The Access Team is backwards.
Doctors, psychiatrists or emergency services will always recommend ringing the Acess Team in times of need. If only they knew what they were recommending.
The workers are all volunteers with no experience in mental ill health.
The last time I rang the service will stick with me for life, I was quite unwell and was spoken too in a concerning manner "what do you want here? What do you want me say". I would never ring this place for help, you have no idea who they employ and they are not trained in this field.
In a perfect world the service would improve but that is not going to happen so, what should happen is for the place to close and put the funding towards something worthwhile that actually helps people.
If you get through to Clara do yourself a favour a put the phone down it’ll help you more. Receptionists haven’t got any empathy or medical training and lie to you (we haven’t got a doctor on the team) they have I’ve sat in the same room as them. Everyone knows you’re understaffed and under funded/ over subscribed but at least act like you actually care. Talk about crisis team
spent 10 months in the harplands hospital recently . I couldn't fault the care I received from the psyriatrist ( Dr Mittal).to doctors care assistants, ots . Everybody just wanted to help . I spent time on ward 1 and picu .The ward manager on picu Joanne sherwin was a great support to me ..I'm really grateful for the treatment I received
thank you harplands
Had a appointment with an access team nurse (Teri Ann). She was very kind, helpful and understanding. She had previously done a thorough 1hr assessment on me over the phone prior to making me the appointment at the hospital. She then saw me just two days later and listened to all my concerns without judgement and then offered me clear advice on what were the best options for me regarding my mental health treatment.
Ok
find it very hard to build a relationship up with staff.
Breaks my heart to leave my family member with them compared to royal stoke staff who are so caring and compassionate.
Please try to think of family members too we are going through hell ???? lost a friends daughter in there. Only had dealing with ward 1 &3 and access team so cannot comment on all the hospital. More money needs spending on training.
My stepson was sent here after being sectioned by the police on a 136 it was supposed to be a place of safety ,he had tried to take his own life the day before twice and was hearing voices telling him to do it, he was very poorly and suffering from severe psychosis and needed to be kept in for his own safety. He had been in the year before with the same symptoms and sectioned on a 28 day order !!! This time He was taken to A and E first by ambulance as he had taken a number of tablets, for observation, then to Harplands the next morning, he had a short 10 min assessment then they let him go asking him to self refer they didnt even let his family know he had been released if it wasnt for his neigbour seeing him entering his flat we wouldn't have even know he has been released???? We tried looking after him all that day it was very distressing for us as a family we were drained we tried ringing the crisis team for support but were on hold for nearly an hour and when we finally got through we were told someone would ring us back it took nearly 3 hours for them to call us back! Cutting a long and very distressing story short my son committed suicide that night and now our family are devastated and broken. He was let down badly by the doctors at this hospital and I know hes not the only one this is happening to its happening alot this place seriously needs looking into and I completely believe all the bad reviews on this site and the good ones are just laughable they are letting seriously poorly people down every single day and something needs to change NOW
Taken a friend today for some help he was very poorly ,as one nurse was assessing him the other nurse who sat behind fell asleep. This is very unprofessional and just shows they dont care he must off bored her. Her glasses fell off and she toke her mask off can I say anymore. Disgusting
