Popped into this small chip shop that is well tucked away. Had a large bag of chips for £3.50 and sat outside on the bench provided. The 2 young ladies who served in the establishment were professional and prompt. The food itself was very good.
Mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand I can't complain about the quantity and quality of the food but the fact their opening hours are so limited and you can't use card in 2023 is a bit of a downer hence the 4 stars. Overall not terrible though.
Great little fish shop and very reasonably priced. Cod was really chunky and beautifully cooked, chicken nuggets were more like goujons and were wolfed down, chips were perfectly cooked. Everything was cooked fresh to order and staff were polite and friendly.
Note: they are cash only.
We had haddock and chips & traditional cod, and chips, with friends. Really tasty, ordered in advance and picked up on time. Thank you so much ????
This is a worthy Fish & Chips bar.
Fish cooked to perfection, with an amazing batter.
Likely dependent on the potato used, the Chips are tasty and also expertly cooked.
Although the bar is wheelchair friendly, the carpark is not, having loose broken gravel, and pot-holes this could be a challenge. Access too is a single driveway.
It is possible the delightful friendly staff, may accommodate a request by phone to order, and bring your order to a disabled vehicle in this carpark. Although this would need to be tested, the staff appear accommodating. Well done.
I've never been to the fish and chip shop as I'm new here, thought I'd get a portion of chips for the kids. Two staff was outside picking up rubbish and putting it the bin, as I entered one of the girls left picking up rubbish and came to the till. I ordered and what I thought at least she would use some alcohol gel, nothing she then threw my chips into the oil. After returning from mcolls I told her I no longer wanted the chips as she had been touching the bins. She denied this but we saw her as we pulled up. Unfortunately didn't get to try the food but no longer want too
Used to be lovely a year ago. Never seen batter so clean. Now it's like most chip shops... greasy, hard batter. They put the chips in a paper bag which makes the chips sweat and stick together. Only the top of the chips have salt & vinegar due to this. Along with others, the portion sizes vary. You order a large battered sausage and they give you two smalls. No explanation as to why. Many times we've had salt and vinegar poured over our sausages as well as the chips which has made them inedible. One time they had a small child running around behind the counter whilst they served people. Certainly not the place for a small child and very unprofessional which caused me to worry knowing they allow that with hot oil everywhere. If you asked me would I recommend?! No. I would rather a longer journey into Ashford and choose either Marinos or the Fish Inn.
Update tried again. July 2020. Sausages advertised as korkers are definitely not. Battered mushrooms very wet and not pleasant. Will not be using again.
Had to go back in to get the curry sauce is ordered and wasn't given, only to get home and find I hadn't been given the battered mushrooms I'd paid for either! Chip portions were very uneven 2 x large and another was tiny. Saveloys were soft (undercooked?) and tasted funny. The sausages which were listed on menu as Korkers were not! Will I go back again....Don't think so.
