Best KPortal Reviews

I share none of the negative comments I have seen in some reviews. My partner and I have been there a few times, for Sunday lunch, and for a tapas-themed New Year's Eve meal.
On each occasion the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food good, plentiful and good value. An extra bonus for us is that the pub is dog-friendly, and the staff positively welcomed our dog.
My advice is, if you don't like genuine, down-to-earth people, or pubs that don't pretend to be something they're not, then stay away.
We will be back there soon !
On the main road from Leominster to Elan Valley, the last pub for miles. It's clean. The chef makes good pizza and we had a good laugh with the managing family. Plus they let us stay the night in our camper on their nice level carpark. Good eggs. We will return.
I can easily believe the bad reviews posted here. Had a pretty tasteless steak and chips with a good pint of cider. 2/3 year old kid playing with loud toys on the floor at almost 9pm, and generally chavvy atmosphere and decor. Keep driving, there will be somewhere much better further on your journey!
Fantastic food and awesome service from pub grub or Sunday lunch to pizza! Their pizzas are top notch! Miles ahead of any pizza you can get. If these guys were a chain dominos and pizza express would be out of business!
There some very good pubs doing very good food in the area The Bell at Llanyre or The Elan Hotel in Rhayader to name but two. SO PLEASE DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY HERE.
Not a pleasant evening. First thing I noticed not that you could miss it was what I presume was the owners child maybe about 10 in the front of the bar (This is illegal as they were not eating) and he making an absolute racket "Personally I go out for a meal in a pub to escape children". The what I presume was the owner a very coarse, vulgar and loud woman whom seemed to talk down too and was aggressive towards every one she had contact with. Other staff and customers alike, then took the orders whilst declaring she had years of experience in the trade (in those years she has clearly not learnt much "Mainly stay away from the bar, restaurant in fact any where customers may see or hear her"!). The food for my three companions was fairly good the portions were a good size and food was of an acceptable standard. By contrast my order was for sirloin (Normally considered a good cut of meat you can rely on) I can genuinely say I have never had a steak of such poor quality it was basically one lump of gristle with the odd bit of meat thrown in to try and pass trade descriptions (short of a carving knife it would have been impossible to have cut it in half. I was offered a replacement but by this point I really couldn't stomach the thought of another one. Nothing was offered off the bill. On leaving I heard in the megaphone voice "Nah I'le take money off any bugger..........I aint proud" ! This kind of sums the whole experience up.
Not a pleasant experience, stopped off for a break. Greeted by a very moody owner, who spoke to the two young employees on shift that day (Easter Sunday) in such a derogatory, demeaning and aggressive manor, our group were quite upset by this. The young male that brought our drinks over, was very helpful, considerate and well mannered, when we asked if the pub had a WiFi code we could use he went off to write it down. He returned helpfully to help us get onto the Wifi service. The female ( owner) began firstly by humiliating him in front of us and then bullying him to attend other tables, while she stood there watching an empty bar! The employee would havd a great case for bulling in the workplace. When i paid my bill at the bar another young male employee thought I may havd dropped 5p on the floor. He asked me if I had and again she humiliated this second member by asking him " What did you just say ? " She is a very domineering bully to her staff and a risk to the future of the pub. Your staff deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and you clearly showed no sign of this on my visit. The staff also deserve to be appreciated and valued you have serious issues in regard to their treatment. The pub could be a welcoming place to visit but unfortunately I don't think this will happen with the current owners in place. They may have pub experience in Spain but your in Wales and clearly dont fit in. Stick to back of house and run the kitchen, leave your wonderful, warm, welcoming local staff to run the front of house. I hope other pubs read this and offer your staff work, as they deserve far better working conditions than the negative environment you offer and cause. Please trust me on this review, really not worth the visit as although the food and drink may be nice the overall atmosphere and mood in the pub is awful because again due to agressive, abusive managment.
A very warm welcome by a lovely landlord and staff at a wake there I attended after a funeral at a church in Nantmel last month.
A fabulous, delicious, outstanding , home made refreshments .
Went in to order a pizza, the card machine didn’t work and I had to wait for 35 minutes. The pizza was cold and not cooked properly, they were not friendly and often stared at me. Overall would not advise going there as I am never going to go there again,
