A very unpleasant visit to the Grove Fisheries today. We only ordered 2 large and 2 small bags of chips, waited around 15 minutes before we asked the lady behind the till how long this would be for her to say she was busy completing a just eat order for 19 bags of chips first..
When she finally did our order she said ‘here, your portions are quite small it’s all I have but I’ve thrown in a bread cake for you’
Not exactly what I ordered.. we received the dregs of the fryer by the looks of these when we got home.
Lovely old style fish and chips in a shop that probably hasn’t changed in years. It’s nice to find little gems like this. I would recommend the shop to anyone passing….
I'm not the biggest fish and chip fan these days. But thoroughly enjoyed these. Good sized fish, not greasy. Good portion of chips. Friendly polite service.

After another long hard day I decided to call for a chippy tea
I ordered a lite bite tea which consisted of fish, chips and peas I paid extra for curry sauce. There was lots to chose from on the lite bite menu
Imagine my delight when I saw the ‘small fish’ was actually 12 inches in length
There was plenty to eat I couldn’t finish it all and at £5.50 what a bargain
Awful food. No customer service and is like a pre school when it gets busy. Beat off going up the road to Denby Dale for better food and an organised service. I went in a week before this review and got recorded in the same frame as fish being fried for what I can assume is for the owners social media and there was no consent and he tried to hide that he was filming his customers and the reason for not asking is probably because he doesn't really know English.
Both felt sick as a dog next day, chips had been cooked and then reheated again, worrying more about the fish today
Staff were super friendly. I turned up 10 mins from closing when they were getting ready to shut up for the night but they sorted my order and we're very chatty.
