We got the place recommended from our B&B. The lunch at Gasta was very nice, good selection of drinks and nice sandwiches, as well as great locally made scones.
And we came back for dinner, suddenly the restaurant had a very romantic dinner atmosphere. We started with a nice drink and the bar and than we had great modern Scottish tapas. A wonderful selection such as scallops with chorizo and kofta with curry. Service, food and location were all on point! A most visit place in Skye.
The castle is mostly ruined and not accessable, but the gardens are incredible and there is a very nice museum tracing the history of the MacDonald Clan in Scotland.
Enjoyed this visit especially as it wasn't planned. We had stopped off for lunch then decided to go in to the garden and museum.
Was closed because of time of year but grounds and park were lovely, grandkids loved it
We visited the restaurant Gasta at Armadale Castle on the Isle of Skye through pure serendipity on Monday 25th June whilst waiting for book in time to our Skye B@B in Sleight. A visit to its beautiful gardens and the castle ruins was first, then we had coffee and delicious cake in its restaurant and decided to book a table for dinner for the last day of our holiday.
The food was the best we had had in our week on the Island by many, many, miles, and we'd eaten well. Tapas in style it was truly wonderful, fresh local ingredients from a new French chef, cooked to perfection with amazing flavours encompassing a variety for all tastes.
All this in such a beautiful romantic vaulted room overlooking the gardens and lovely, attentive waiting staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Wow, what a way to end a holiday. It's not been open long so if you want a wonderful night out book quickly.
Lovely choices on the menu, the chicken breast stuffed with haggis is yummy and the blackcurrant and apple crumble equally good. Reasonably priced, well presented and all the staff were very friendly too, what more could you want??
Finally a well thought out restraunt that delivers to a high standard on every level. Forget 5* we're talking Service 6*, surroundings 6*, food 6* and atmosphere also 6* . It's a must visit if you're in this part of Skye and you'll be as pleased as I was, post meal. Can't wait to return with friends next month already. Thanks guys!!
Table booked for 7.30, arrived in good time. Order taken for drinks promptly but waited 15 minutes to arrive. Ordered x1 starter and x2 main course. Starter arrived 20.15, apology offered, due to mix up in kitchen, and accepted. Told main course was imminent. Waited another 10 minutes, advised it would be a further short delay. Cancelled order as had been waiting almost an hour. Disappointed as we were the only customers after 19.50
