Great food and service at Galatea in Dunmow. Plenty of choices from cooked breakfasts, wraps, sandwiches and kebabs. Very reasonable prices.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Galatea. Lovely surroundings, superb food and friendly service. Did not feel at all rushed and could have just enjoyed sitting in the garden all afternoon. It is like a a little slice of the Mediterranean in Essex. Great Dunmow has a real gem.
We had a wonderful experience at Galatea today.
We had planned to eat elsewhere, further out from Dunmow but were let down, and needed to find a last minute alternative (within the next 30 minutes for a party of 8!). I searched a few venues, but the vegetarian options were incredibly limited for those in our party. Came across some good reviews of Galatea so called on the off chance, and the lady on the phone was incredibly helpful and managed to rustle up a table for our 2 families of 4 to sit together.
From the moment we came in, the hostess (Kamala, I believe) had an instant rapport with the kids, and was so incredibly kind and considerate. The menu offered a very reasonably priced and varied selection of dishes; ranging from breakfast, brunch and Turkish dinner options, and lots of choice for vegetarians.
Everyone's food was delicious, and we felt attended to the whole time. It's a very cosy venue, but there was a real local feel and so welcoming.
This really was such a little gem to come across, and we thank our lucky stars that there was space available as it saved our day and we had such a lovely visit. Would definitely recommend!
Very warm interior design felt so cosy and comfortable, was in there a long time and was never rushed or bothered, was going in for just a drink,but while I was watching all the delicious food go past me I had to order something, went for an omelette and it was delicious,,would throughly recommend this cafe ,like stepping back in time ,amazing little place for lunch a spot of food ????

Beautiful restaurant with first class service.
Turkish food is one of my favorites and this place topped all the restaurants I've been to in the past.
Highly recommend the mixed grill, perfection!
If we are ever visiting this town again will definitely dine here again!
