I had a fantastic stay at Forsinard Lodge with my friends this weekend. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The lodge itself was clean, comfortable and really cozy.
If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend staying here!
Great paninis and the best fruit cake, hosts are really friendly.
We went to Forsinard Lodge to enjoy some of the photo tours with Wild Arena. But we wanted to add our heartfelt thanks for the gorgeous accommodation at the Lodge. ||Getting there|Following much of the NC500 scenic coastal route, we turned off to go halfway along the A897 travelling North from Helmsdale to Strathy and Bettyhill for Forsinard. The road is kept open even in the worst winter weather for the logging industry so my Honda Jazz had no problems coping with the terraine. ||The surroundings|The road up to the lodge offers beautiful views, with trickling waterfalls and salmon rivers appearing around every bend. There is even gold in the river, and places to park and go panning for your own fortune - or a fun way to spend a day in the countryside. If you like wildlife, there are deer along the road most days, as well as osprey and eagles in the sky as they're really close to the RSPB Forsinard Flows reserve. There are stormy coastal views at Latheronwheel along the east coast. Exploring north, Thurso has some lovely historic buildings as well as modern facilities (Tesco, petrol etc). Going west along the NC500 route you have a choice of coastal bays with beautiful sand beaches, and the warning sign for a Kraken at Tongue!||Accommodation|Our room was lovely and snug. They've thought of everything - reading lamps by the bed, power sockets with USB chargers. The shower was hot and powerful, the modern bathroom heated by a towel rail so that it is a warm welcome if you get caught in the rain. They have a drying room in case all your kit gets soaked, but we had a week of lovely sunshine in early April, so never got to test it. The room even had a sparkly wall finish in the bathroom that stayed warm so if you lean over in the shower, you don't get a cold shock from the chilly tiles!||Food|There are breakfasts in the tea room (which also does lunches and cakes) but no evening meals. That gave us a perfect reason to go an explore the coasts for sunset and dinner. The Bay in Dunbeath has very tasty food and is near the picturesque Latheronwheel harbour.||Facilities|NOTE - there is no TV or WiFi - though we did get enough phone signal to listen to podcasts. It makes it an ideal site to get away from all the hustle of modern life.
I had a very comfortable room at this B&B, with an en-suite, fantastic cooked breakfast each morning along with helpful and friendly staff (owner). I also had good 4G phone signal (on O2) in my room, which considering the remote character of the area was unexpected, but helpful!
A lovely B&B in the heart of the Forsinard countryside, if you're after peace and quiet then this is a perfect spot. Close to the NC500 route but without the hustle and bustle. Lovely tea rooms too with homemade cakes and other goodies. Will definitely stay again!
Absolutely fantastic little tea room, not far from the RSPB site so if you're after a drink, snack or light meal it's the perfect place to visit after. Highly recommended, very glad to have found this tea room today!
Lovely to have a nice tea/scone break on our long cycle journey! All delicious. Lovely location too. Thanks so much!
This lodge is a great stop off point for a tea and meal the staff are very kind and welcoming the decor is beautiful definitely worth a try
