Had a takeaway tonight for the first time from Feast Of Bengal and can safely say we won't be returning. We ordered on Deliveroo and it said 50mins... 1hr 15mins later the food arrived. My curry had leaked in the bag and into the other dishes and when putting it on to the plate we saw there was a round piece of plastic in my curry. Chicken was slightly dry and not overly flavoursome.
The Balti was far too spicy and not like any other Balti I’ve had before and indeed had there before which were nice. I always think feedback is good but when they asked if everything was ok and I told them, their attitude became noticeably less friendly. As our friends paid the bill, I asked if they could keep the itemized bill and they refused saying that they could detach the total from the bottom and we could take that. We will not return there.
Have only ordered a takeaway via Deliveroo however it’s our new favourite! Can’t beat the taste and we’ve enjoyed our meal every time! Sometimes delivery time is a little longer however it’s worth the wait! The other night it was estimated 1 hour wait and it was only 40 mins . Looking forward to dining in soon.
We've only ordered take away from here, but it's now our regular. The taste, quantity and quality are all absolutely top notch.
A brilliant vegetarian selection as well!
Superb hidden gem. I cant believe I've lived in Billericay all these years and not found it before. Staff are really friendly and chatty but not intrusive. Food is amazing! Quality is excellent. No large crowds to drown out your conversation. Small and friendly restaurant decorated nicely and the toilets are clean, fresh and smell nice. This is a really lovely restaurant. We've been 4 times already. Excellent value for money. 2 curries and rice with poppadoms, naans and 2 sides, 2 beers and a soft drink less than £50. I couldn't eat all mine so they boxed it up for me to take home. Can't recommend highly enough.
I visited Feast of Bengal for the first time just a few months ago now and have been going ever since. I first heard of it when it was delightfully recommended to me by one of my acquaintances. After researching it for a while, I realised it was very local and seemed to be a nice and cosy restaurant of GREAT Indian style cuisine. A few days later, I visited it for tea with my wife and acquaintance who earlier informed me of it. I cannot even begin to describe how scrumptious the food was and at such a reasonable price. The staff were awfully kind and treated us with such etiquette, even the way they brought the food was in such an authentic, gentle manor. Since that very day, I have been "FEASTING" there almost every week.
In conclusion, I recommend this to anyone who enjoys delicious food and caring service.
Was advised to try this place which we did and the food is excellent.
The staff although friendly could put a smile on their face and clear the tables rather than put your main course to the side of your empty starter plate rather than take it away !!!!
I had to put my empty plate on the next table as the waiter just walked away? Unbelievable! !! That said a good night and excellent food, would certainly return.
We thought we would give this place a try because it's quite local to us, appeared to have decent reviews on Google and we were able to use our taste card. The deal was a free main meal with the purchase of any other main meal. We booked ahead, although on arrival there was only one other table being used. Despite this, we found the service to be a bit slow and had to ask for our order to be taken twice. We didn't feel particularly welcome and the waiter did not seem too happy about me ordering a coke instead of alcohol. We had poppadoms and dips before our meal arrived and these were fine, but unfortunately my pint of diet coke was completely flat. I ordered some lamb chops as a starter and my wife ordered the onion bhajis. The bhajis were perfectly fine, but the lamb chops were actually really small lamb steaks and at £5.50, I would have expected better. For main I ordered the lamb pasanda and my wife ordered a chicken dish that came with rice, so I ordered a separate rice for myself. At this point, we were both becoming increasingly annoyed about the amount of flies buzzing around the table, but its summer, so we didn't complain. The main dishes were below average. My lamb was tough and had a red tint to it and my wife had to ask for her rice, which wasn't brought to the table. We noted again how slow the service was considering the restaurant was almost empty. Overall, it wasn't a great meal, so we decided not to stay for dessert or coffees. When the bill arrived, the deduction for the taste card was only £5.10. I queried this as both main meals cost more than this, as did my starter. The owner explained that he had deducted the rice from my wife's main meal, because this was a bundle deal(?) and couldn't be used with the taste card. At this point, after a very mediocre meal, we decided not to press the matter. For the sake of the restaurant saving themselves £2.60 (my wife's main was actually £7.80) I can guarantee we will not be returning. In summary, food was not great, service was poor and the restaurant trying to cheat us out of such a small amount (we'd have happily tipped double this amount) just left a bad taste.
