We arrived into town late and nothing else was open. Popped in and asked if they were open. The staff just cleaned the fryers and were closed but the gentleman at the front said "I Cannae leave you hungry". And fired the friers back up and got us some delicious dinner fish n chips. Great staff all around. Cheers
Decent chippy and certainly way better than Crieff's. The fish was freshly battered and fried, and the supper was enjoyable. Not massive portions but OK. One thing to be aware of - the opening hours are quirky and limited to a few short hours teatime to early evening. That's if it is open. Best to check.
Great wee chippy here. Fantastic quality fish supper. Perhaps on the modest side in terms of its size, but delicious and well worth it. Had it served with a side of homemade tartare sauce. Delicious and would visit again.
We kept passing and finding it closed even though opening hours said it should be open. Would be helpful if the correct winter opening hours could be posted in the window or online. Anyway, managed to get our meal tonight (Friday) around 6pm. Good portion size, a fish and a half, and good helping of chips. The batter was crispy around the edges but the 7minute drive home maybe had steam causing it to go a bit soggy. Chips were a bit overdone and not chunky enough lending it to a lot of little harder crunchy wedges/slivers. Overall not bad for occasional visit but wouldn’t be rushing back. Home made tartar sauce was a bit of a letdown with not much flavour or bite.
All food made to order, fish was a fairly greasy under the batter, £11 for a fish supper, a new personal record.
Possibly the most expensive chippy we’ve ever been to - and unfortunately the food wasn’t anywhere near worth the sky high price.
4x Regular Fish & Chips, 2x sides for you to takeaway tonight, Sir… £55?!
I’m guessing Comrie is an expensive place as the chippy was fairly busy, despite the eye watering prices. The chips we received were dry and crunchy and although the batter on the fish was tasty - the pieces of fish themselves were at best average quality, and there was nothing about the food or the experience to explain why the prices were so high (apart from there being no competition for miles around)…
I guess if you live locally then you probably have no option other than to pay the prices, but having had better fish & chips at home in Lincolnshire for 5 people for £33 last weekend it was quite a shock to pay the price we did for the meals and received.
I ordered a fish supper and a bottle of Coke and it came to £15. The fish was nice, however the chips were rock solid and tasted stale.
Been wanting to try here since I arrived. However only got chance to try today and was worth the wait. Absolutely delicious. I was staying at Lochearnhead so a bit of a drive but this is the nearest chippy.
Everything cooked beautifully.
Thank you everyone.
