This was our first visit to Chip 'n' Gail's and we were not disappointed. The taste and quality were excellent and so was price and service. Got to be the best chippy on the east coast. You will not be disappointed.
Popped into this fish and chips shop yesterday as spare of moment due to been hungry and smelt so lush as passed wasn't disappointed was really yummy ???????? definitely go to again
I had a fish fritter with chips Thursday evening. Omg, the fritter was amazing, thick, well seasoned and plenty of fish inside. It was probably the best fritter I've had yet from a chippy. Would well recommend!
Very warm welome, great service, fish n chips were great, batter was cruncy and not stoddgy, peas n curry sauce also great n tasty, chips were cooked to oerfection, well worth a visit 5 star
Once I moved to the area part time, this was the first chippy I went to. It's incredible. The staff are not only fast and kind, they are funny and really chatty. Even when COVID restrictions were in, they made it safe and fun. Food is so good, always hot, can't recommend enough.
Spot on little chippy,
At the time I visited the fish was being cooked to order. Definitely worth the few minutes wait.. bread was decent and didn’t crumble the fish was light and meaty.. full of flavour and the batter light and crispy..
Next year it will be my go to arrival meal
We've visited hornsea many times over the years and have always seen chip n gails on the way down to the hub car park. This time we thought we would try it due to the countless good reviews, but we're left feeling more than a little disappointed.
Chips - they were a mix of beige slush and dark brown over fried crisps. None of which tasted great.
Fish - Top batter was okay, the underside was soggy and the fish tasted odd.
Battered sausage - they were the only good thing we had that evening (hence the two star review).
I don't know if it was just the night we ordered or the batch of potatoes they'd had in, or the fish that was fried straight from the freezer, but it was really not worth the £30+ we spent including drinks.
Service was good though, everyone was pleasant, and it seems like a loved local take away.
Perhaps another time it would have been different?
Saw Sullivans was busy and thought must be somewhere else better. Well I found somewhere, Chips and Gails. Excellent chips and fish, service was friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.
