Previously this was my go to for chinese, food was great. 5 years later food isn't as described grilled chicken shouldn't be coated in batter! Won't be back
Staff are really nice, great service. Food is fairly good. There's quite a big price difference between dining in and take away, we expected more in terms of presentation and quality when sitting down.
We had a sit in meal celebrating mums birthday.
The China Garden is a wee restaurant, it's fairly nice decorated, well used.
We ordered various dishes, beginning with Chicken noodle soup and ribs, all very nice.
The main dishes were well presented, large bowl of rice to share among us. Everything was brought out piping hot.
All the portions were on the large side, I can understand why, most people like a good amount, we ate as much as we could, whilst trying to save room for desert.
Overall a enjoyable evening, good company, good food.

Pretty bland if I’m honest. Everything was tasteless and fell way short of expectations. Not what it was like about a year ago when I last used it.
One of the worst frid rice I ever had. I ordered a beef fride rice, and as ordered they gave me just fride rice and beef, no Chinese tastes. All items too expensive when compared with other Chinese restaurants in Haddington. £££££
Food arrived 45 mins late and cold. Not what I expect when paying £6.50 for delivery.
Despite leaving written instructions on how to get to my property ( which apparently the drivers don’t bother to read) and speaking directly with the first driver he took my order back to the takeaway. The second driver also struggled to find me, again didn’t read the clear directions I had given. The food arrived 45 mins late ( almost 1 hour after being cooked ). It was cold, the chips and pancake rolls were soggy. I won’t be using this restaurant again.
We really enjoyed our sit-in meal. Service was fantastic: our waitress was very personable, giving our kids a crash lesson in the use of chopsticks. Food was surprisingly good: best Chinese food we’ve had in a while.
When here for a sit in meal and the service was good although with one hiccup which was acknowledged by the staff. Food arrived piping hot and was very tasty, good portion size too. Only real criticism is the price of the food, £4.50 for a portion of thin noodles is quite extensive in my opinion.
