Chris is a great local mechanic, polite and always helpful
I was on holiday when my car went into limp mode. I called Castle Hill Garage and the gentleman I spoke to was very helpful and told me to drop it in which I did. If my car couldn't be fixed for a few days I would have been in trouble. Castle Hill sorted it out and got my car running again so I could drive the 4 hours home. Super impressed with the service and would highly recommend. This garage saved my bacon and the cost was good too.
Brilliant even though I know nothing Chris does not rip me off
I was on holiday and realised I needed an MoT.
Chris booked me in the next day and was brilliant. He kept me updated on the repairs and told me how much it was going to cost , so no big suprise when I came to pick it up.
Would highly recommend taking your car there and getting a good job done without getting ripped off.
I tried a number of garages in ilfracombe before trying chris at castle hill and he has been the best i have found so far. He is honest and fairly priced. I have never felt like i was being overcharged and when things have been wrong with my vehicle chris has always discussed the issues with me, offered advice and really gone above and beyond to help out. I couldn't recommend this garage enough.
Probably good if you are a local, not a holidaymaker, unfortunately my son broke down on holiday and had to have a new alternator, 5 months on it has packed up ,upon inspection by a garage he was told old fittings had been used on it, and had been done possibly long enough to get him home, garage said they were surprised it had lasted as long as it had,somehow it had caused oil to get into the alternator which subsequently killed it ,can't claim the warranty as not feasible to make a 9 hr round trip back there as car won't run, had to source a new alternator from my work at additional cost plus more labour to have it fitted ,very unfair if the job had been done well to begin with, have contacted trading standards to see if they can help him with this matter
i had a MAF air flow meter fitted to my van when i was down there on holiday on 14-11-2018 as mine packed up on way.
i got home and within a week it completly stopped working and as i live in the west midlands i had to pay for another one to be fitted and no problems since with my van.
i contacted Chris at Castle Hill Ilfracombe about the faulty item and he said send it back as it is under warrantee for 12 months.
i sent it back and nothing at all from the garage for 2 months so i chased it up and was told it was sent back to the manufacture so it could be checked and then a refund to my card would be made.
this has been going on now for 11 months with me keep having to phone then up and chase it up, i have had excuses about it being lost and not checked yet etc.
anyway 29-10-2018 i phoned up and was told by Chris that he was just going to transfer the amount of £164.38 back on to my card by a bank transfer.
i thought about time, but by 31-10-2018 nothing was in my acoount and we were going down to Brauton for 3 days so i phoned again and was told that the money was being transfered as it was showing this in his account, i informed him that we would be in the area and if it had not cleared by the friday 2-11-2018 we would be popping into the garage.
he said ok anyway it still was not in the account by the friday so we went into the garage and his understudy was there and he got in touch with Chris and he told us that it had cleared his account so would be in my account by monday 5-11-2018 due to the weekend.
and since i have returned to the midlands guess what still no money in my account.
so i have just reported him and his garage to the trading standars to do a full investigation.
i would never use this garage as they are complete liars.
