Best KPortal Reviews

After reading many reviews for this fish & chip shop, which is under new management, the majority of them had mixed feelings about it. I went in around lunchtime, and it was almost dead, and asked for a Large Haddock and sadly only had one size, which they said would be a decent sized piece of fish. I ordered their fish & chips with mushy peas, bread and butter, and also a small pot of tea. The bread was quite thin (I could almost see through it). I then asked for the batter on my fish to be crispy, but when my meal arrived I didn't get a whole piece of haddock, and instead received and end tail piece with (what looked like) a small fish bite beside it. The battered haddock was not very crispy, the chips were almost undercooked and the mushy peas didn't have much taste (like that of water). It's a shame because overall the establishment was very clean and staff were incredibly friendly, providing the occasional laugh when checking up on us. Still looking for a fish & chip shop which I can dine in and get a big piece of crispy fish.
Lovely Fish and Chips and tasty hotdogs, kids always like the chicken nuggets. Always served by friendly staff, in a clean environment, nice restaurant as well. I always call in but they do deliver as well. Well worth a visit.
The nicest COD and Chips I've had In a longtime. The Irish curry sauce was really tasty and the staff were really friendly. Also really affordable.
Not the same since took over by new people. Waited a while for order. Shepheds pie chips & peas just OK. Good cup of tea. Extra £1.00 per person to dine in. Won't be returning.
Really disappointed not a crispy chip in sight! The only hard bits were when the potato was undercooked. I joined the queue 20 minutes before closing. 10 mins later a new batch of potatoes went into the frier. I said I was happy to wait, though I accept the staff were in a hurry to get home. It used to be the best chippy in the area but not like this. I'd recommend a trip to the new chippy at Howden le Wear.
Ordered mince pie and chips as well as corned beef patty and chips... The chips were okay, but had clearly been warming for a little while... The corned beef patty was fried to order and the mince pie microwaved.
They both went down well, so no complaints. Pretty good value also at just over £8 for the 2 meals.
Will definitely try again.
£9 for this fish and chips at Carters, where Clem's used to be in bishop, I know things are tight but this is a joke! Not a full potato here, can't even make a chip butty. Disgraceful.
Called in for lunch with a friend. Decided to dine in, both shop and dining area are spotlessly clean. The food is excellent and served by polite and helpful staff who make you feel welcome, Clems is a must visit place, if you are looking for a varied menu at affordable prices.
