Came in just after opening on a cold wet morning. Was warmly greeted by the person behind the front desk. I got a mocha and eggs Benedict.
The mocha was superb, with great chocolate flavor. Perfect level of sweetness. Eggs Benedict were superb. Hollandaise was creamy, rich. The eggs were poached very well. Served with a green salad and a fantastic dressing.
Was happy!!
Full Scottish breakfast was a treat, smoked salmon was delicious too. Service was timid but attentive and polite. Interior a bit cave-like but massive front windows let in lots of light. No views of Calton Hill from inside by the way!
I was walking towards the princess street when the window display caught my eye. I ordered a pistachio & a tiramisu cannoli to go - total was approx 3£. Both were crispy, light, & fresh. I especially loved the tiramisu flavour, very rich & not overly sweet.
Lovely little cafe with great service and really tasty food with good portion sizes. I had the avocado and halloumi poached eggs and it did not disappoint! ????

Best part of the cafe is the friendly staff, they are professional but casual and make it clear that they care about you enjoying your time there. They are not nosy or overly “bubbly”, just a calm and comforting environment. If you like being a regular at one place, this is a great option. Moving to a new country can feel lonely but when I come here I feel like I can relax with new friends or family. You can tell the owners care a great deal about the community and customers.
The coffee and food is also delicious. They have Italian pastries and classic sandwiches, but also sometimes serve Turkish food. This is the only cafe where I can get chips that are more like “fries” and are actually salted and crispy, not undercooked or under seasoned. Sometimes it’s hard to find food that I has enough flavor in Edinburgh lol, but I don’t have to worry about that here.
They also have punch cards so you can save on coffee as a regular even though it’s already affordable, and Wi-Fi!

Good simple food, clearly better cooked with better ingredients than in other places we've recently tried. However, the place itself is small but not very cosy and one waitress is not super friendly. We wanted to order more drinks but gave up after several attempts to get her attention.
My favorite neighborhood cafe in Edinburgh! They serve big portions and delicious food. I always come back for the eggs benedict and the eggs with salmon. Coffee is strong and tasty. Pastries are divine, they have every cannoli flavor in the rainbow. Best part are the friendly staff who welcome me with a smile, like a home away from home. Great family-run business
