Lovely cafe in the centre of Morpeth. Food is always lovely. It had been a while since we had been so I suggested it to mum today for lunch. The menu is plentiful with lots of specials on the boards around the cafe. It is small and can get busy in the summer they have a lovely outdoor space aswell with extra tables. Today mum had a pear walnut and Stilton salad which looked lovely and according to mum was lovely. I had a bacon & Brie toastie which was done on a thick slab of tiger bread and very substantial. The server was very helpful with my intolerances and said they would request my food with no slaw on the side as to not contaminate my food.
I have Ulcerative colitis and have to live by a low fodmap diet. I know my tolerance levels.
We then followed our lunch with a Victoria sponge cake to share which was lovely and moist and yummy. The staff are always friendly and we will be back soon.
We have been to this cafe several times and never been disappointed with the food. They have a wide choice of delicious scones, cakes and sandwiches which are reasonably priced.
The staff are friendly, attentive and very helpful. Waiting times for food are short and the whole premises is nice and clean.
I've read previous reviews about the coffee and yes, it doesn't blow your socks off but I have been served worse and been charged more for the privilege.
Overall, I thoroughly recommend this cafe.
It's a lovely, quaint little cafe that's always got a happy atmosphere.
A great place to chat with friends over a delicious coffee and a scone and has a varied selection of sandwiches, salads, cakes and scones, etc, which are all served beautifully by friendly and efficient staff.
A lovely & unique cafe in the centre of Morpeth, delicious scones & cakes. I also love the choice of seating areas. Just like being on the Riviera and lovely staff, very friendly. I live on the riverbank in North Shields, but it's so worth the journey to Morpeth to visit the this pretty cafe.Patrica.x
Nice café, nice staff, very nice food. Excellent. Must book a table though.
A lovely little cafe with good food and coffee the service is 5 star. First time we been there but will definitely go back and recommend ???? ???? ????
A big shout out to the hard working staff at Cafe des Amis. Lovely morning with my grandson, breakfast with santa. Well done to you all ????????
With a name such as this you would expect French quality, however was very disappointed with the coffee here. The scone was excellent but don't go if you're expecting real coffee. The menu says that it is award winning artisanal coffee but it still tastes like standard filter. Our first cups were watery and then were provided with a second cup which was marginally stronger. Food looked good and staff were nice and friendly - just let down by the coffee.
