The Bill Shankly Memorial, integral to Glenbuck, pays tribute to Liverpool FC's legendary manager. Glenbuck village is home to the Shankly family and although the coal mining village no longer exists, pilgrims find their way to the Shankly's memorial stone to pay tribute to the man's contribution to Liverpool's storied history.

Lovely memorial site for the legend Bill Shankly and the history of Glenbuck.

We were driving and seen the sign for this place.. Margie and I were glad we stopped here. The things you miss on the road if you didn't stop surprises you. To me.. I don't care what you believe it.. bit you have to have respect what happened in the passed. How people grow up and what people make of their lives. Things back then come paired to now. People worked harder miner's football no matter what. The Shankly family are people to respect. I couldn't resist these photos of other people's respect for them. But over all not just for them but for the others that worked here to make a living here to do what they had to do to survive.

2.1m height barrier at bottom of road - even if you park by barrier it is a long walk up to the car park and memorial. As it was very windy with horizontal rain I gave up. Had I been able to drive to car park I could have explored between rain showers. Do not recommend for anyone struggling to walk if vehicle won’t fit under barrier

Bit out of the way, sure it’s a pilgrimage to those from Liverpool. Part of the village Glenbuck. Nice walks around the area, dog friendly. Worth the drive.

Returning from Anfield after witnessing our beloved Liverpool play & defeat a very well disciplined Rangers side, we nipped into Glenbuck to say "Hello" & "Thank You!" to the great & fellow Ayrshire man who made LFC the club it is today.

Very emotive location, amazing to think this was a thriving mining village not too long ago. Pretty much nothing left of it now ! Lovely memorial to the great Shankly in the village he was born. Should be an essential destination for all Koppites ⚽⚽⚽

Very moving place to visit. Nothing left of the village the great man was from, only information boards telling if what was once there.
