West coast weather ,wet windy ,sleet and hail after 700 metres height, icy at the top ,30 second vid then retrace my steps quickly, easy path to follow ,not boggy but wet ,still enjoyed it,when the clouds break there is stunning scenery .
Great train journey to get here, nice walk up to the starting point, made it halfway there but I had to surrender to torrential rain and hailstones so turned back. Nevertheless, I loved every minute of it. What a great place.
Fantastic couple of Munros, initial farm track but look out for the stone stepped path which heads straight up the front of Ben More which feels never ended and quite hard going but the views are stunning. Path continues onto Stob Binnein which I would highly recommend. Once back down between the two Munros there's a steep boggy path which heads back down to a track which leads you back to where you started.
The Ben More 'Path' is little more than some occasional stepping stones and exposed rock for about 900m of steep, switchback-less ascent but with proper pacing, it is perfectly reasonable. The views at the top are, as you would expect from the highest mountain in the Trossachs, absolutely spectacular. Once summited, the path continues on southwards which gives the option of heading down back towards Crianlarich or onwards to Stob Binnein.
Tough climb but fantastic. It’s basically incline all the way up. For new climbers, doable with breaks but still tough going. Can take 2+ hours just to get up. Coming down was tricky. We found a path down heading towards the valley between the other Ben mountain. When you’re heading down, it’s on your right close to the bottom of Ben Mor but if you’ve arrived to the flat grass between both ridges you’ve past it.
Unfortunately views aren't guaranteed. Bit of a tough climb but good all the same
Don’t be fooled by the weather at the base, can quickly change on the way up and catch you off guard. Was lucky to make it to the top and back in one piece. Sadly a man lost his life the day of our hike and it’s easy to see why.
1,174 m of pure rocky climbs, great fun to mountain bike back down.
