Great new independent Cafe (Bahama Bay) in Alton. Very friendly owners and lovely relaxed environment (as well as delicious very reasonably priced food).
We had the Da' fish fry sandwich and Big Breakfast.
Note: Previous less good reviews are for a previous cafe at the same address.
My wife and I visited the Bahama Bay for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were welcomed very warmly, shown to a table and given menus.
There is a good selection of food here including jacket potatoes, breakfasts and paninis. I went for the large club sandwich (which came with a stack of fries) while my wife opted for the chilli jacket. Both were excellently prepared and delicious, and Brian (the chef) came out to chat with us.
All in all we had a delightful lunch, followed by coffee and brownies - which were also spot on.
The Bahama Bay cafe is definitely highly recommended if you're looking for good food in a relaxed environment with friendly staff. We'll be back!
Friendly and comfortable independent cafe that puts back in to the local community. We had the Cuban fusion panini, Rarebit and the breakfast. All tasty and well presented. We will be back to sample the homemade brownies ????
Great food at a good price. Ventilation could do with improvement as smoked the room out. Staff all very helpful and welcoming.
My Husband and I visited their second time yesterday for quick lunch yesterday.
Very friendly and welcoming staff.
As the food was so delicious ???? I forgot to click pics again.
Full marks on presentation and taste of food.
It was busy so order took 40 mins to arrive however as it was so flavourful I couldn’t give any less star.
The lady chef was very nice too.
Well done Bahama Bay.
We like to support the small businesses and independent restaurants and this place has a lovely twist. Being ceoliac, the young assistants were very helpful in guiding me with choices that would be ok. I had the pork Exuma dish which was well presented, fresh and amazing to the pallet.; I would highly recommend this dish.
Would like to note to the lovely team though, please do not take as a negative but as advice, that with observation and being my second visit; the service all needs to be abit more pro active! Work at a faster pace as waiting for nearly an hour each time, would make customers re consider visit due to timescale of delivery.
Handy café in Alton. Food is fairly basic and inexpensive, but is home cooked and quite well prepared, and generally tasty. We've been there a few times, and have usually been happy. It's not huge, so can fill up at peak times. Last time we asked for a veg burger, but got a standard meat one. We didn't send it back, but obviously this would have been a problem for vegetarians. It hasn't put us off though, and we will most likely return.
Have never been here before and won’t be visiting again. There was no atmosphere what so ever and actually felt a bit uncomfortable. The sign outside said FRIENDLY, come inside but the staff all looked unhappy and there was no customer care. The sandwiches said they use thick bread which I was looking forward to when in fact it was just your every day bread and they didn’t even cut the toasted sandwich at all.
