First time there. Had mushroom Swiss hamburger my wife had regular hamburger. Both were excellent. Fries were also great. Crispy and flavorful. Will go back. Service was very good.
If you want a delicious meal like your mama used to make, this is the place to go. The food is served hot and it fills the plate no matter what you order. The small town charm, the value, and the friendly staff is just the icing on the cake. I highly recommend the breakfast specials along with the coffee and sweet tea.
Talk about a hidden gem. it's very hard to get a good meal in West-Central IL. Jacksonville is full of terrible dining options, but I don't always like to go all the way over to Springfield. The Ashland Diner seems to be just the ticket.
The quality and taste of the food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. Under $2 for a drink and the special on the day we went was something like a Pork Tenderloin, Fries and a Soda for 7.99 which multiple people at my table enjoyed. The menu is pretty broad but not overwhelming and a quick scan revealed prices on all the menu items to be on the low side of average.
I had one of the better Horseshoes outside of Springfield and it was only $8.99 for a full shoe.
Seating was comfortable, even for fatties (like me) and the serving staff was polite and attentive.
I will update if I have a different experience, but for now, I would rate this a must try.
If Ashland seems to far for "just a meal" it's worth noting they are right across the street from the never disappointing Jones Meats, who sell what are very likely the best brats anywhere along with other old-world butcher items. Certainly stop in there while you are in town.
Well, weren't we surprised! The last time we were at The Jones Boys Market (the brat capital of the universe) I noticed the Ashland Diner across the street and decided we would stop there soon.
We went on a Thursday and my wife and I had the special - breaded tenderloin sandwich, French fries, and drink for $7.99. Like many t-loins in this part of Illinois it was huge. And tasty. Can't tell you much about the fries. Just not enough room after just 3/4 of the sandwich.
The menu offers lots of choices and it's an all day breakfast.
Looking forward to trying the Friday fish specials as soon as I run out of brats and head back to Ashland.
Located in an old bank is a small town diner serving good food at decent prices. Enjoyed a nice greek omelette $6.99. Loaded with fresh ingredients.
Excellent breakfast sausage patties were super eggs done just right hash browns nice and crispy extra good coffee great service loved it
Quaint diner on the square in Ashland. Home cooked meals were very good, service was great, and prices were very reasonable. We would come back.
Amazingly good food. We are there several times and every time everything is good
