Great little community fuel pump. Excellent price (cheapest for unleaded I've seen since driving up from Glasgow) and easy to use.
Not the station as I couldn't find it but the pass itself is a little daunting. Warning sign at the bottom said "high snow risk" but there wasn't any. It is steep, even the gentle side.
The view at the top is inspiring. And no trees. Both sides have a lot of crash barriers which is a rarety to see if you've done the NC500. Some of the switchback are tight. You wouldn't be getting on a coach up here.
What an amazing drive this is, incredible views and surprises around every corner, definitely a bucket list challenge and worth the distance traveled.
While Driving around Apple Cross we had to get diesel for the car and came to this wonderful petrol station. Its been maintained by the local community so they have ensured to keep the prices down. Every-time a car fills its tanks it helps the community. We paid £1.46 per litre which to my amazement was exactly you would pay in Aberdeen run by big pumps companies (A shame).
If you are driving around Apple Cross please get Diesel/Petrol from this place. It not only helps your pockets it helps the local community too.
Easy to use and got fuel so can't complain too much.
However when I turned up to the pump it said 142.9 which is mostly in-line with current prices and the reason I topped up here and not elsewhere. Yet after I selected unleaded and started filling I only then realised it went to 157.9. Unleaded is usually cheaper than diesel so can only assume they have a 'locals' price...my fault for not checking after I chose my fuel type.
Handily situated community run fuel stop. Operates 24/7. No cash option. Card only, payment in advance.
First time we've come across a community petrol station, a good way to keep projects going, guess how much petrol to fill the tank,pre pay by card, also some nice vintage photos around the site.
Diesel and 95 octane petrol on sale, pay by card only and self service. An asset to the community but a godsend to a biker with a limited tank capacity . A community business with competitively priced fuel
Fix the petrol nozzle chaps / lasses it leaks prior to the trigger pull.
