Excellent location and the food was good. Excellent location for planning your time in beautiful Arizona. The staff was friendly and attentive. They have pie !!
This place was pretty good. The food was ok and the prices were spot on. There was a little guy who brought us our drinks and I think he was the waitress's son. The place was nice, warm and it had a nice amount of antiques to look at. The name is a little misleading because there is no "Still"(it apparently means bar). There is a candy shop in it that has all sorts of goodies.
We stopped in Alpine during a long drive and decided to eat at the Grill & Still. It was mid afternoon, not really a high traffic time, so there wasn't much waitstaff, but we weren't in a hurry anyway. The restaurant is rustic and probably more suited to the nighttime crowds. They had a great country playlist going, and lots of interesting signs, hats, and tee-shirts tacked up on the walls and ceiling. Just inside the restaurant is a separate ice cream shop if you just want to grab a treat. Since it was not the busy time of day, we seated ourselves, and the waitress brought the menus. We ordered grilled chicken salad, seasoned waffle fries, and pepperoni pizza. The fries and pizza were great! The salad was mediocre but, well, it's salad and I needed my veges for the day. ???? An interesting touch was the strips of mixed cheeses on top of the salad. The waitress was nice, if a bit distracted, but we would likely eat here again if we were driving through town.
The mushrooms were the only thing we got that tasted good. The cheese curds were overcooked and had a burned aftertaste. The fish and chips (recommended by the waitress) was disgusting, rubbery, and had burned batter (hard and browned to a crisp). The oinion rings were overcooked too, and so was the burger. We paid $65 before tip for food that I don't feel was in any way, shape, or form worth it. Despite the bad food, though, everyone we encountered was really friendly.
Ordered mushroom burger good. Onion rings crispy good. Small town waitress friendly. Will be back. They also have ice cream.
It's a small town. So being from out of town you kinda get put on the back burner, and I get it. Staff was friendly. Even helped me entertain my kids when the machines were off and helped me turn them on. Definitely gonna be back!!! 5 hr drive worth it!!! 1000 times. Also in the review it asked about "parking and wheel chair access. If you didn't know the snow round there. Trust me. It's sometimes almost not easy for those on two feet. Lol
