Lovely staff, amazing food. Highly recommended. Had to wait for dessert, however no complaints as was not in a rush and they came to inform me of the delay as the cookies were being made fresh. Will definitely be back.
We visited Allium with a Buy A Gift voucher on a whim as we were passing by on a trip, I'm very glad we did because the afternoon tea we had here was amazing.
On first impressions the restaurant appears to have had a lot of money and love thrown at it, the garden area is well maintained and appealing, inside the decoration is very warm and welcoming and lends itself to a pleasant atmosphere.
Sadly we were the only visitors that afternoon and I write sadly as the food we were served was delightful, the afternoon tea consisted of a plate of sandwiches, as basic as they tend to be with afternoon tea they were perfect examples of how they should be, so tasty. Shortly afterwards a mini bench of sweets arrived, a selection of fancies, chocolates and a couple of scones with cream and jam. Everything was fresh and you could tell they were crafted with care, a lot of afternoon teas consist of caterer supplies.
There's currently a job listing for a gardener as it seems their ambition is to even grow the majority of their own veggies to further lend to the freshness.
In terms of service, as I mentioned we were the only visitors that day, we were greeted and taken care of in a very friendly manner, an important distinction however was that even though we were the only customers we were not over fussed and received the perfect amount of service.
Starters were OK mains were awful looked like steak had been microwaved. Front of house were very nice and dealt with our complaints shame about the food. Will have to come back when they re-open.
We had to wait for over an hour to be served our meal. The staff never bothered warning about the waiting time, no apologies or anything before they took our order. About the food we ordered Pork ribs which hardly had any meat on them ! The spicy rice was sweet, I don’t understand why they had added sweet sauce ! The chicken and chips dish was so bland there was no sauce or gravy served with it. Would not bother going again. If you want your lunch for 1.00 pm then it’s best being there an hour or two before to be seen to by the staff !!
Very disappointing. Visited this restaurant run by previous owners and loved the setting. Welcome was friendly but food not worth the money. Set menu with little choice we were 4 diners and chose fish but were told there was only I serving left which when presented was minuscule. Other 3 diners were offered cod which basically was fish, chips and mushy peas!!! Chip shop or restruant? Despite being unable to provide menu options were still charged £25 for two courses. On payment no apologies, never asked if we had enjoyed our meal, total disinterest.
Will not be going back sadly.
Excellent food and drink. Friendly and welcoming.
Attended with my family (8 of us) for the afternoon supper. Service was great from the moment we entered! Every course was explained with a back story which was great. The meals were spot on and the wines (coming from a non wine drinker) suited the meals perfectly will definitely be coming back
I booked the family room for me and my family to come and stay after visiting Chester zoo. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the zoo and is in a prime location. The staff were very lovely and the food in the restaurant were not only great prices but tastes amazing! They didn’t have beans for children but when asked they actually went to the shops and got some for my niece! They went above and beyond to provide excellent service! The rooms were beautiful and very modern. Overall very clean and tidy and I would deffinately recommend this hotel and restaurant to everyone!! Thank you very much for making my weekend the best it could be!
