It was amazing. The food was outstanding. I love the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The servers have a great sense of humor and made me laugh many times. 100% recommend this place to others!!!
On the way home from Newark airport stopped in the ironbound area. We stopped at a portugués restaurant. Wow what a gem. The food and service was great. We ordered a mixed salad ???? with grilled salmon ???? and a steak ???? sandwich. The salad had oil and vinegar just enough. Salmon was very tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection with onions ????.
We got the homemade chocolate ???? mousse. It was the waiters suggestion. They were right.. very fresh and tasty.

It was quite and beautiful. The 2 bartenders was amazing n very nice. It was only my boyfriend and I there. The food and drink was so good. I recommend this place. Stew shrimp rice. My boyfriend had the salmon
Some of the staff don't speak English so well, but they're very accommodating. The food, especially the shellfish, was some of the best I've ever had in the US. Especially the broth - try dripping the bread they give you!
Service and food were amazing. The seafood was cooked to perfection and so flavorful! The drinks had wonderful a flavor balance and were definitively interesting. We will be retuning!
Have visited again and they did not disappoint. Took my mother in law out for her birthday and she loved the food and she is looking forward to going back again when the weather gets warmer. ☺️
Before heading back to MT, I wanted to enjoy some amazing seafood. Not only was there big serving portions but the food was amazing (many seafood options). The drink was a "vacation-in-a-bottle", if that is even possible. Hands down the best drink I have had in a long time!
The staff was very welcoming and helped me pick the perfect meal! I will 100% be coming back for this again!
My lunch order today actually seems like some sort of cruel joke that was played on me. Reviews and pictures don't mean a thing when they don't match the experience.
What I ordered vs what I got.
If you go to Allegro online and click Order Online you will find some pictures that are supposed to represent the dishes that they serve.
I ordered Salado De Polvo which looks to have tomato, onion, herbs & maybe some garlic and octopus. I even called to verify that the octopus was grilled. What I got was octopus with no identity of how it was cooked, swimming in 1/4c of oil with a sliced boiled egg.
I also ordered Ameijoas A Bulhao De Pato from a picture which looked liked what this dish should be. What I got were thumb size clams shells with the majority missing any clam meat but those that did, contained meat the size of my pinky finger nail. I thought that the smallest size clam were little necks but I've been proven wrong.
I also ordered the Paella Marinera. I wanted lobster but that was my mistake. The rice was good, there were clams the size that I thought I would get with the Ameijoas A Bulhao De Pato. What I didn't like were the fat, chewy calamari rings.
I called to express my disappointment and I was given only regrets. The bill was $106 with a tip. It was not worth it.
I see that the owner may respond to negative reviews. Please don't come for me unless you are talking about making this right.
The food was pretty good, sorry to say that service sucked, waiter didn’t write down our order and messed up 3 of the 5 items I ordered, gotta start writing those orders down unless you are sure you will get them right by memorizing them. That does kinda ruins your night when you get all the wrong items.
