we stopped at Alice's restaurant in crawfordsville today. a grilled tenderloin with corn nuggets and a breaded tenderloin with fries set us back $27. the grilled tenderloin was a bit dry but had good flavor, I give it four stars. the breaded tenderloin was pounded flat and huge but was very dry and hard to swallow, 3 stars. corn nuggets bit too much breading to corn, not nearly as good as ones we had last weekend st Bernie's bar in frankton Indiana. french fries nice and crispy without being greasy or oily. we got there around 12:30 on a Friday and I'm guessing it's probably much better earlier in the day or week. unfortunately everything came in styrofoam, too many compostable options for that.
Great place for breakfast. The haystack is very good but alot to eat. We also enjoyed the sausage gravy, hash browns and French toast
We love these mom and pop diners.
Food is always good and it's entertaining to watch Mike as he prepares it, especially the breaded tenderloin!
His mom makes the best butterscotch pie available on the occassional Tuesday/Wednesday.
Don't ask for sweet tea...they only have unsweet. It's brewed and not out of the tap, which we prefer.
I like the old time feel to it. A simple counter top and stools. The staff are friendly and it's fun to watch them cook right in front of me. The food was good. Almost like home made but better. Is it fancy nope. But the food and people make up the difference.
Just love this place! The food is always sooo amazing. The atmosphere is good. It’s one of my favorite little restaurants in our town!
It has a retro diner feel to it. From the counter with the stools to the friendly cook right there in front of you. Which I enjoyed. You could tell the diner has been around for awhile. But that's what gives it it's charm. As far as the food I had the double bacon cheeseburger and fries. Which was good. Tomorrow I'll be trying the tenderloin next.
A must stop little diner in Crawfordsville!! We had one of the best breakfasts ever!! I wish we lived nearby because I’m sure we would frequent Alice’s for many a breakfast and lunch!!
Really enjoyed talking with Alice’s daughter Penny and her son who own the restaurant! Super nice people who even were kind enough to make sure my wallet I lost outside their restaurant was returned to me!!
This is a classic small town America diner!!
Great food nice staff. It wasn't dirty but it was the place could use a bit of face lift on the inside. It's run down a bit which makes it seem dirty. It's a great place to stop and have a quick bite it's not a huge space so if you have a large party call ahead and check to see of the have space I'd say.
