I had to get some emergency insulin, l called 111 and was given a referral for my medication. I then call the pharmacy to check that they had received my referral, they said no, they cannot get onto the referral system. They said they could not help and give me some medication. They told me to call 111 again. They sent the referral, l then call this other pharmacy, the same thing happens again, and l get told to call 111 again. I then call for the third time and again get a referral for my medication. I call Al Shafa pharmacy, again they cannot get onto the 111 referral system, however, they find a solution and l am able to get my medication. Great pharmacy and they find solutions to help and not just phob you off telling you to got back to 111, who cant give you the medication.
My mum could not speak english and they gave her children’s cough medicine for an adult.
When my mum took it back (unopened and untouched) the woman said they don’t take returns.
They took advantage of an individual who could not speak english and now £5 has been wasted due to the staff’s incompetence.
We were regulars here but now I will not go here again.
Good Customer Service. Those people who leave negative remarks are one time users. They don't appreciate it's the only Pharmacy in Smethwick, Sandwell open until mid-night 12am. I've been there many times. From a regular service user. There service is excellent. And more importantly the staff work very hard. This review is written as a group service users whom use the Pharmacy on a regular basis. Not making negative judgments on a isolated or one- off visits. This is incorrect in reality. Rip-off and time wasters. Their website states it accepts credit and debit cards. Turns out they only accept cash.
Poor customer service. The lady seemed friendly but was very slow dealing with my request for some eye drops and I was just stood there being ignored whilst she chatted to a man who seemed to be a family member as he was walking behind the counter.
Even after she had finished serving him, she still chatted to him and it had taken her several minutes before she even asked her colleagues to look for the eye drops - why keep the customer waiting for so long for no reason?
Then as I went to pay I was told it’s cash only and it was £10.99 which is nearly double the price of what I ended up buying for £5.90
Always remind me when to put my mums repeat prescription in anytime her medication is changed they always talk it through with me and explain everything all staff are friendly and polite and professional I also want to thank the night pharmacist he deserves a medal ????
Used this pharmacy for the first time last day or so. I have to have multiple boxes a month of a very expensive eye drop. In the past I've had issues at other pharmacies where they provide lots of reasons for why they can't obtain stock of the drop but I think really it comes down to them not wanting to spend the money (even though they get renumerated by the NHS). So I asked my GP to send my script to Al Shafa this time due to their very long opening hours . I called in the morning to check when my medications would be ready as I was running low and had been let down by another pharmacy and can go blind without the right medications. The lady tried to order the drops from one supplier online who was out of stock. So she called up another supplier and managed to fulfil the prescription in full that same afternoon. When I arrived the pharmacist was very professional and ensured I knew what I was doing with all the medications, even highlighting the dose for the tablet (as I have to take half a tablet twice a day). Will definitely use them again. Only reason I deducted 1 star is because:
1) I tried to call several times the previous evening near to close and couldn't get through - just kept saying not available and couldn't leave a message. Wander whether they switch the phone off near to close to avoid having to answer any calls and end up leaving late.
2) my tablets were provided in a generic medicine bottle with the pharmacy label on but no safety leaflet was offered. I like to help the planet so probably would have said I didn't want it anyway but I felt I should have at least been given the option. Especially as different manufacturers have different safety precautions depending on their exact formula. E.g. just because one brand of a medication is stored in one way (maybe it has certain preservatives in), another brand of the same compound could need to be stored in a different way or at a different temperature so really I'm surprised they don't offer the leaflet.
Yes the shop itself isn't very swanky but in terms of medicine availability and getting the job done I was most impressed. Genuinely saved me a lot of stress which I usually have when trying to obtain these drops - driving round all pharmacies for them to claim there is a supply issue of they will only give me 1 box at a time (despite the prescription stipulating 84 doses per month) or saying they need authorisation from the owner who isn't in till the next day etc.
The pharmacist was absolutely brilliant. Was in desperate need of an inhaler and it was nearly midnight and he helped me even after the pharmacy had closed and was really lovely and so helpful. Would’ve been in real trouble without this pharmacy so am very grateful!
I am so grateful to this pharmacy for being available at 11pm so I could get my little boy his antibiotics! The staff were all so helpful and friendly and willing to help. Thank you once again much appreciated.
