Best KPortal Reviews

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was just our table and one other. It took a while for our food to come out, probably 30 minutes, but we really enjoyed the Pastel (meat pie); I could have just eaten those for dinner and would have been fine. The flavors inside of those little pies is simply incredible. My Grandpa & I got the Beef Kabob platter and our meat was really, really well done which we would have preferred a medium and even cook because the meat was really tough to chew and thus lost most of the flavor. The jollof rice was so tasty and again, I could have eaten just the rice and been fine. My husband ordered the lamb and wow, I only tasted a small piece but I’d get that if we went back because the seasoning was 10/10 and soooo tender. The plantains were also really good! So sweet and just the right amount of char. We really liked the Afro-Caribbean-Latin music being played as well! Really nice vibe.
The food was delicious and I would go there again, little bit pricey but delicious. The Pastel (meat pie), Lamb dibi, beef kebab, rice and beans, and fried plantain were all good. I really enjoyed the ginger juice (good ginger spicy and sweet drink, so good). There isn't a large staff so service might be slow, even when not very busy. So come with patience and grace.
We had a great experience. The customer service was great. The bathroom had a coded lock but could be opened from the front desk. Do feel free to ask any of the servers.
The food was tasty. The meat pie was great. I loved the filling. The "bofrot" was good. I also had the jollof rice, fried plantains, and chicken.
The ginger drink was very authentic and spicy. The spiciness does not last long though.
I'll recommend this Ghanaian restaurant to anyone.
My family and I had been searching for some really good authentic African cuisine. The places we've been to have been disappointing and NOT what we were searching for. Until we found this place. The Akwaba restaurant was perfect! It was clean, spacious, had good music playing, and the food! The food was perfect for finally getting to try it the right way for the first time. The waiter was very polite and sweet. Food and drink was SO GOOD! This place is definitely an up and coming gem!
I got the lamb dibi with rice and beans, and plantains. It was some of the best lamb I’ve ever had. Super tender and juicy with just the right spice. The hot sauce is spicy and addicting. We also tried the meat pies and they tasted so fresh and good. The people are nice and friendly. I’m definitely coming back.
I ordered Chicken Fufu & Egusi and the Hibiscus drink. The food was so good! It was my first time trying African food and I will definitely be back.
Food was good. I had some goat egusi and it was pretty tasty. The fried fish was also very good. The fufu could be fresher.
By the way the ginger juice is strong. It is a bit spicy but good. One thing that was interesting was the hibiscus drink. I am used to the Latin style "agua de Jamaica" and this is very different.
Y'all, this place slaps. They put their foot in this food (that's a good thing for y'all that don't know). You enter the lobby downstairs and can either walk up the stairs to the restaurant or take the small elevator.
I ordered the okra soup with fufu and the fried half size whole tilapia with fried plantains and a passion fruit juice to-go. This was my first time here and everything came out to just under $40. The food is quite expensive.
Absolutely delicious! The fish was seasoned well and the salsa that comes with it is just perfect. The okra soup was perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The fufu was plenty and delicious with the soup. Great portions and reasonably priced. The passion fruit juice was too sweet for my liking but good flavor.
I'd love to see better customer service. It took 20 minutes just to get my order in when I arrived and I kept being told they'll get to me in a minute. If I wasn't already settled on dinner plans, I would've left. They can be kind of short and rude at times.
I agree with another reviewer that it would be nice to see more ingredients listed in the menu. Especially for the soups.
I will definitely be back with this level of quality! Highly recommend.
Edit: the ginger juice is strong!
