Lovely wholesome family made food. Feels like home, food wise and ambience wise. Made adjustments for my diet, will be visiting again! They are happy to adjust ingredients as everything is made fresh. Veggie friendly. I loved the burrito.

This is truly an authentic mexican restaurant, every part of the place including food, music, staff and atmosphere really enhances that feeling/vibe!
I'm not going to knock a star off but the only thing I was sad about was that they had no desserts :( but think this was just a one off occasion and luckily we had birthday cake at home ???? will definitely be back ????????????
We pre-booked a table at A La Mexicana for Valentines Day evening after hearing many positive reviews, safe to say we weren’t disappointed! Table service was brilliant, our waiter couldn’t be more helpful - he gave tips on sauces to accompany our meals, advised us on the menu and ensured we were comfortable during our meal. The food was amazingly fresh and delicious, I ordered a ‘Pink Margherita’ cocktail off the specials menu and it was gorgeous! The atmosphere was very cosy and relaxed- We will definitely be back!
The most insane mexican food in birmingham! So authentic and full of flavour. My personal favourite are the tacos ahogados and chicken tacos! Friendly service and a great selection of freshly made salsas. The rice pudding cheesecake is also incredible! Will be going back again soon!!
Amazing little restaurant. Food was excellent and the service was brilliant, the young man explained the menu for us. Cocktails were strong and well worth the money. I would recommend a visit. You will need to book in advance as they are getting very popular
Yummy, authentic Mexican food. I have tried Mexican food from other restaurants and chains which does not even come close to A La Mexicana. Freshly cooked and full of flavour, every bite was heaven! ????

This is a real Mexican place, we have just come back from south California where we had many Mexican style meal and we were looking for a place to revive the experience and I must say I was delighted that there’s a piece of Mexico in Birmingham, The owner and his family are so kind and forthcoming ready to help and explain the different dishes . Portions are really generous and really fresh so far from any chain/industrial feeling and this very rare for our city unfortunately. The Enchilada is one of the best dish I ever tasted and so the burrito and freshly made guacamole , the place is really small and this is also part of the charm thanks you to Jose’ and his family we will certainly come again
