It was are first time at 118 Main St Friday at 5:15pm. We sat at the bar they give you crackers with spreadable cheese. Homemade Sour mix for Margaritas absolutely delicious and started with grilled kielbasa appetizer. I ordered Grilled Elk special was fantastic the wife had their Squash Raviolis the sauce was delicious. The service was exceptional bartender new her job with a packed bar. We didn’t have deserts but there ice cream ball covered in chocolate served with whip cream looked good for next time…
Sat at the bar tonight and Penny was tending bar, as usual. She's amazing - commands the bar with ease and knows the menu inside and out. We sat next to a woman and her husband who complained bitterly about mushrooms in her meal not being fresh (although they definitely were), but didn't say anything until the meal was over. Looking for a free meal probably!!! How do you do that, Pat? And to leave a $6 tip for the bartender when it was not her fault at all that you customized the meal and then didn't like it. Yes, we saw you in action and we saw Penny and the owner try to appease you. Maybe you should make your own meals from now on rather than causing us to see your petty attempt to get a free meal. And don't worry, we felt bad and we made up for your lousy tip. You're welcome. I hope we don't sit next to you again, but we LOVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND HOPE MORE PEOPLE REALIZE THE AMOUNT OF WORK IT TAKES TO PUT OUT MEAL AFTER MEAL AND DRINK AFTER DRINK - and then to have to try to appease your panties in a bunch attitude. Almost comical, but I hope everyone gives this place a try - you won't be disappointed. Thanks for a great dinner, awesome drinks and a comedy show on the side!!!
Had a great meal at 118 tonight. Food was great, service by the bartender, Penny, was excellent. The only issue was the woman next to me at the bar who kept hitting me with her elbow. Turns out she not only kept knocking into me but, based on her review, didn’t like the food or service. My food was excellent and we were made to feel at home. I’d recommend this restaurant, but screen the people next to you at the bar carefully! Some people just can’t be happy.
Saturday evening dinner out with friends. One of the few opportunities to get together with friends since the pandemic started. We had not been to 188 Main St but felt comfortable with the recommendation and decided to try it.
The seating and overall environment was very well thought out and still very comfortable and inviting. The staff was excellent. The appetizers, main course and dessert were excellent and praised by all in the party. Compliments to the chef and the staff. Nobody had a bad experience.
We will all make a return trip to 188 Main St at some point in the future and would recommend it to anyone that wants a worthwhile, special night out.
Oh dear. Not worth the price. We gladly pay for good food, but this was marginal at best. Over-iced Negroni, overcooked risotto, Marsala with no hint of Marsala and in spite of what the chef averred, CANNED mushrooms! Both the bartender and chef dared to argue with us! We have been before but will not return. The following is from my companion:
I think I confused the kitchen when I asked to substitute pasta for the risotto. I was served a lot of pasta with what appeared to be canned mushrooms and sliced grilled chicken on top. (Marsala traditionally has breaded or pan fried cutlets and a rich, brown sauce with nicely cooked sliced mushrooms….) I’m not sure what happened to the Marsala in the dish- no hint of flavor. There was a soupy liquid in the bottom of the dish. It was also supposed to be served with seasonal vegetables. They didn’t make it to me. The cook wanted to argue the it was like this because I substituted pasta for the amateurishly made risotto…whaaat???Perhaps they need to drain the pasta better? Perhaps the “chef” needs some new recipes? Needless to say we won’t be back.
Outstanding food and great curb-side service! We can't wait to dine-in soon!!! Every meal our party got was delicious and served hot. The kielbasa and Brussels appetizers are a must. The squash ravioli was amazing. I would highly, highly recommend this local restaurant!
Went on a Saturday for our anniversary Staff was very kind and attentive. Service was great and food was phenomenal! I had filet wrapped in bacon Wow! We also had blackened kielbasa and crab cakes for appetizer and it was excellent. Will return on next date night
My wife and I had a very enjoyable evening there. The drinks at the bar were terrific and with generous portions. She had a creative mixed drink which was outstanding. For an appetizer we had blackened kielbasa with a creamy herbed dipping sauce. For main course I had tagliatelle Bolognese. The portion was just right and the taste was excellent. Service was very attentive. We will be back. This place is a gem. Even the valet guy was very personable.
