Wonderful wee dog friendly cafe. Avo toast was great. My husband would've liked 2 pieces of black pudding on his roll, but he shouldn't have had even 1. Definitely recommend this wee gem.
Went in to coffee shop yesterday with friend. Spent £35 on lunch only to find a huge strand of hair in my tuna sandwich. When I told the waitress she didn't seem very bothered with it. First and last visit.
We visited the store today for a coffee and soup. We opted to sit in the shop to enjoy our coffee. The staff member who took our order was not so friendly and a bit rude.
The soup and coffee came to £18 which felt a bit steep considering the serving sizes.
My partner ordered an oat milk iced latte (she is lactose intolerant). We were told, after my partner had consumed the latte, that the staff had messed up the order and it was a regular latte.
The replacement Latte was served in a paper cup. Which felt a bit cheap as we were sitting in. The second iced drink was also look warm on arrival.
The soup was nice, however, the portion size was small.
I would have been a bit more forgiving with my review if it was not for the staff mistake with the latte. If you have an allergy or intolerance I would recommend you avoid.
Beautiful little place. The coffee was exceptional and the scones are first rate.
I was highly disappointed with my recent experience at Zanzibar Cafe. The following issues significantly marred our visit:
**Uneven Service:** Our six-year-old child was served last, long after the rest of us had finished our meals. This was both inconsiderate and frustrating.
**Subpar Food:** The pancakes were dense and soggy, a far cry from the fluffy texture one expects.
**Inadequate Portions:** We were provided with an extremely small jug of maple syrup for three people and insufficient hot water for two pots of tea.
**Unwelcoming Staff:** The service was generally off-putting, with staff members seeming rude and uninterested in making our experience enjoyable.
**Uncomfortable Atmosphere:** The overall vibe of the cafe was unwelcoming.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend Zanzibar Cafe.
Visited on a cold windy day, so we were after a hot drink.
This place is the only place I have ever visited where they sell tea, and when asked the waitress for white sugar....
" we dont do white sugar here".
Now I've seen white sugar going into coffee, but never brown sugar into tea.
Victoria sandwich cake was dry, and when a visit to the toilet was required, was met by a old paper sign which had obviously been there for some time stating "out of order"
Think this place needs to have a good look at itself.
Absolutely dreadful place. The girl who owns this cafe is the most unfriendly person I've met. I was told that the next time i ask for a takeaway cup for my coffee, i would be charged. I suffer from severe arthritis in my fingers, so a normal cup is no good for me as it's too heavy, and i can't get my fingers into the handles. I tried to explain this to her to which she replied,"I'll still be chared" Beware, she'll be charging you for dishwasher tablets soon.
Update: I thought I’d go back to the cafe to see if there was any change in the owners attitude “ let bygones be bygones” oh my god was I wrong to do this. She let us go in and order our drinks. Once we finished, she came over and told us not to come back because I put a bad review on this site! Now bearing in mind, she was happy to take our money first. As per first post, it wasn’t the fact that she was putting her prices up, it was the fact that she wanted to charge me more for having a paper cup. My wife and I have been in loads of cafes and never had this problem. One cafe owner did ask why I wanted a paper cup and when I explained the situation with my deformed fingers she apologised and couldn’t do enough for me after that. Never again will I enter this cafe.
Went to Zanzibar Coffee Shop with a friend, had an alright café experience here. The cakes and scones we tried were a little dry.
