Best KPortal Reviews

Food: A lot of the food hit the mark. I think that the soups and the dish I ordered, the spicy pork was really good. It had a nice kick to it and was spicy but not overwhelming. I think they make a lot of their food from scratch and it was very authentic.
Service: Hit and miss. We went as a group of 5 people, and even though we came in later on during the service they were able to seat us quickly. That part I did appreciate and the food did take a while but granted it appeared to be made fresh. The downside is that I ordered a tap water and wished that I could have more refills of that and only got one cup.
Atmosphere: Considering we were there closer to the end of service... The atmosphere was still really good. There was a small and comfy vibe inside and a lot of people seemed to be enjoying themselves.
This is a place worth visiting I'd say and don't let the supermarket front fool you, there's a lovely restaurant underneath.
What a fabulous place. As you walk through the mini Korean shop and down the stairs to a family run kitchen, you begin to wonder what you get yourself in for.
The food is freshly cooked and extremely good. You get a full view of the kitchen as they prep your meal for you.
The negatives for me were the service. We arrived at 1900 and were seated promptly. The restaurant shuts at 8.30 but we're told to place our orders straight away as the kitchen was closing. One member of our party took too long and they refused his order which was a bit shocking.
The kitchen staff started swearing ???? wanting to go home and it seemed like a skit out of Ramsay's kitchen .
The food however definitely saved the day, it was delicious. If they can work on their service they really have a hidden gem here and I will be going back for the food alone. Might put some headphones ???? on to avoid the staff...
Been twice within 3 days which shows how great it is. Situated underneath the convenience store, it's a cozy area with a large cooking area, the food was delicious, well sized and great value for money. The service was top notch and prompt, can't wait to go again to try a bingsoo!
The restaurant is hidden underneath the Korean supermarket.
The restaurant is just like it’s name “your mum’s kitchen”. Authentic Korean food and really affordable.
Downsides have been previously mentioned in other reviews:
The male owner seems a little bit grumpy sometimes.
Great food and great service. Will be coming back.
Just like eating at home, if your mum is an amazing chef and you have a clean house. Great prices.
The setting is downstairs in a cute dining area with a nice little view of the back porch on one side and the similarly designed kitchen on the other. Pastel colours throughout combined with the well cleaned white tiles made for a great setting.
The menu has most of your classic Korean dishes as well as some unexpected ones. Get the sweet and sticky chicken. The sweetness reminds of honey sesame chicken with the added mental complexity that comes with the spiciness. This leaving you begging for more of the rich flavour while your lips cry out in pain.
While you wait for you food you can try to peak into the kitchen while 'your mum' prepares your food with unrivalled focus. We interacted with three other staff and they were all polite and didn't once rush us, despite being there until closing.
Lovely little family run Korean joint in the basement of a convenience store. Food is fresh and made to order. Pajeon looked excellent but will have to return next time!
I used to be a loyal customer, going there weekly to buy kimchi / kimbap, which are quite nice. The shop assistants were always quite unfriendly (which I didn't really care about), they also charged for things like plastic bags and chopsticks (their products aren't exactly cheap to charge for that but anyway). Today I went all the way down there and was informed that their card machine didn't work. Normally business will try to accommodate their loyal customers who they keep seeing every week, but they didn't even try to suggest any solution, like transferring money to a bank account or simply allowing me to pay later. This was really disappointing and sadly they lost a loyal customer today. I really wish them well and sure they are doing alright if they don't care about customer service that much but hopefully my feedback will help improving their attitude and customer service!
