Best KPortal Reviews
Charming old school pub with great local service and lots of history on the walls.
We had a great pint of Guinness and a lovely half pint of cider. A shame to see so many 1 star reviews for a pub that is a real gem of the village!
It is very rare I leave a 1 star review but wow, this place really deserves it! Called in at around 4pm yesterday after a long journey, from the outside the pub looks lovely, inside is very dated and shown no love whatsoever! Still, I am committed now and I am looking forward to a G&T and the hubby a pint.
At the bar I asked what flavoured gins did they have? The rude woman in the corner replied "they are behind the bar!" Not exactly helpful as I am struggling to see the writing on the cheap bottles. The bar lady however said she had a rhubarb which I said would be lovely and to make it a large one. She then picked up a wine glass (the gin glasses was underneath) I asked if I could have a gin glass and the landlady shouted OMG! WE ARE CLOSING IN A MINUTE SO YOU BETTER DRINK IT QUICK!!!
I told them to leave it then as I was planning on staying for a few drinks!
Went across the road to The Stag and had amazing service with a smile.
I do not know how this pub has remained open after reading the reviews, I am a big believer that you don't have to like someone to take their money but you do have to like them to give them your money.
In summary, the landlady needs to wind her neck in, hire a cleaner and invest in some customer service courses! Or if she hates her job that much then to shut the doors and stop letting that beautiful village down....
I can see why the pub was rated the worst in the UK!
Hates customers who aren't locals. (She only sells lager, which i don't drink as its insipid and too dear!)
We went to the Stag.
If you are ever in the town of Cemaes bay in North Wales, this should be a place you need to visit, a very Welsh welcome, a friendly landlady and a scrupulously clean modern pub, if it was possible to give a 6 star rating this place would certainly merit it.
We called in well it was damp, smelled of damp couldn't drink all my pint I saw the review by someone called Fred foxhall he said he would give it 6 stars if he could, you need to get out more if you think it is worth 6 stars then all the other pubs in the town must be 10 star, its the worst pub I've ever been in

If there was an option to give a -1 I would. I have never met such a rude landlady before! Visitors to the area, walked in for a drink after a lovely coastal walk from Amlwch (which I would recommend) to be greeted by ‘What do you want’. Made to feel very unwelcome. I didn’t stay and buy a drink, why should I line the pockets of such a rude lady!

This pub serves the best Guinness on the island. This is tested by myself and I should know being Irish. The standard of it is high. Other places serving it should ask them how they do it. Well done.
