Wonderful evening spent at Y Crochan. Warm and welcoming staff and restaurant. Food is like artwork on the plate. Full of flavour and packed a punch. You could tell great care and love was used when making these dishes. The wine was fabulous. Staff couldn’t do enough to help you. Thank you for a lovely evening Nathan & Nicola xx
Newly opened restaurant with lovely seating in the rear and cozy inside dining space. Well crafted menu with a range of options. We enjoyed the steak and the cauliflower thyme soup. The food was very tasty, nicely presented, and very reasonable in price. The host was very kind to us — two American tourists roaming through Wales.
Brilliant restaurant, Chris and Dewi will look after you with one of the best culinary experiences available in North Wales. They showcase Welsh produce and celebrate their home town, no one else in Wales is capturing and providing an experience like they do. Thoroughly enjoyable, top quality cuisine, carefully sourced produce delivered in a quaint atmosphere with a modern twist.
You'll be telling all your friends about them for a long time.
Well it’s hard to describe really - probably the worst eating experience in Caernarfon. We waited over an hour for a shared starter of wild mushrooms and goats cheese and it finally arrived burnt and inedible. Free wine was offered. Main courses were just ok. Asked for the bill and the starter and extra wine were excluded but the £20 online booking deposit was missing. When mentioned a £20 note was swiftly taken from the till with no questions asked!
My guess is the days are numbered!
Avoid.

Wow! Well done. That rude, offensive pack of lies really shows everyone on this very public platform the sort of company you are.
After booking for 16 of my friends and family for a baby shower afternoon tea i was very excited! I spoke to a lovely lady on Facebook messenger to arrange (won't put her name out there!). She was very accommodating and even offered for me and a couple of others to come half an hour before booking time of 1pm to set up. A deposit of £5 per head was also paid.
Imagine my suprise when on the day of the shower (22nd October 2022) at 12:05 - bearing in mind me and my mum were in Caernarfon and 2 friends on the way to set up for 12:30, I have a phone call from a random mobile number. She asked if I had booked a table for 1pm, which I replied I had, and she told me that it would have to be cancelled as the chef is not available due to 'personal' reasons (which I will not air). I asked if she was joking and said that there were 14 people on the way for the baby shower and she said sorry and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously upset and frustrated at 8 months pregnant I began calling around places in caernarfon... Jason in table table saved the day and was absolutely brilliant with us!!
Following this call and calming down a little i messaged the mobile number that called me and asked for my deposit back that afternoon and hoped Chris was OK. I was told that they would pass the message on and Chris would call me the following day. This just didn't add up if the reason given was true.... Also at this time I still assumed the lady who cancelled the booking was something to do with the business!
But this is not the end of the story... When I arrived home later on I received a message from Y Crochan Facebook asking how today went.... Which was confusing as they had cancelled. Long story short... The person who called me to cancel was not anything to do with Y Crochan and not the lady I had been speaking with over Facebook messenger. I was informed that Chris has decided to cancel all bookings as he had gone out on a sesh/partying the Friday night. I won't bore you with other details and how I found out, but there is enough evidence to show he knew what he was doing and aware of the bookings he had on Saturday.
I am fuming, ruining my day, taking my money, lying to me and giving out my details to one of his friends who I have no clue who they are.
The following day I have found out the reason given was a lie. Even more infuriating and upsetting!
Obviously I then wanted the deposit back that everyone had paid, I contacted Chris who did apologise but also tried to defend his actions. To add insult to injury he told me on the 23/10/22 that he was unable to pay me my deposit back until the 31/10/22 due to having no funds in the business. I let him know that it was a good job I paid the deposit into his personal account and asked for it back, again he said he was unable to pay me back until the 31/10/22.
This is the reason I have not posted anything up until now as I wanted everyone's money back first.
For someone trying to set up a successful business this is a JOKE. Talent will only take you so far, you need to be a people person, trustworthy and honest... All of which The Crochan is not. I am absolutley gutted this has happened and hope that it doesn't happen to anyone else!!!
We had a great meal on Wednesday - so much so we went back on Thursday too. Wonderful food with a twist from a highly talented passionate and personable chef and excellent service from Jen, very attentive, sociable and professional. We’ll Be there again next visit to Caernarfon Can’t wait.
A lovely restaurant with a nice and not too complex menu. The ambience is very nice and service superb. Wonderful to have such a nice fillet of local Welsh Black beef. The food was presented beautifully and was so tasty. I would highly recommend.
The menu online looked great but when we arrived, the menu presented was much reduced - only 4 mains including a vegetarian option. That was then reduced to 3 as the pork belly had run out. That's not good enough for a Friday night when they knew how many covers there would be because they were all prebooked. Mains were nice when they arrived, though not exceptional and the portion size was just about adequate.
The same happened with desert, but the choice was limited to only two including extortionately priced cheese & biscuits. We had the baked cheesecake; the base was overcooked and tasted a little burnt.
Don't know about the starters as we didn't have any.
Service was good and cheerful and in spite of the deficiencies, I would give them another chance.
