THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAS NO INCLINATION ON HOW TO RUN A HOSTEL, AS IT IS NOT A HOTEL. YOU MAKE YOUR OWN FOOD GENERALLY FROM A TIN ON TO BREAD. NO HEATING METHODS AVAILABLE. WHAT WAS AVAILABLE WAS NONSENSE FROM THE PROPRIO TORS, BECAUSE THE WERE TO BUSY GETTING DRUNK & HIGH WITH CLASS A DRUGS. LOOKING FORWARD TO BE PASSING THIS PLACE WHEN IT IS CLOSED.
As we were travelling by bus and train, we had to opt for a town centre location. So as far as location was concerned The Castle was perfect. But once we stepped through the front door, that’s where the ‘perfect’ stopped. ||||first impression was the sticky floor on arrival downstairs. The Man behind the bar was helpful but didn’t really know what was going on. ||||The bedrooms were grubby and old fashioned with a box in the corner masquerading as a wardrobe with some sort of padlock. As you tried opening the door it fell off. We had to resort to putting our clothes on the floor. Not even a toilet roll holder. ||||I appreciate that this might be a budget friendly option, but we paid £65 pound for our room. Which wasn’t good value.
Fantastic hotel on a budget. Our room was tiny with just a bed and a side drawers but a nice little ensuite with a great shower.
All the staff were great and we had fun in the bar during the evening.
They had a band on but when we went to bed it didn't seem to travel all the way up to our room.
We would deffinately come again.
I've been to the Y castell many times and have always felt welcomed, they have live music on regularly which always goes smoothly. I have also stayed over at y castell after a night of music and have always had a great sleep. Never used the facilities such as the showers but friends of mine have and they've said it's pretty satisfactory for what you're paying for. Overall y castell is a great place and is always my go to place, I would definitely recommend for a great night and a place to stay if you don't mind sharing facilities:).
Called in as the place was open to stay in two rooms taking student to Aberystwyth. I think it took me longer to go in and out than i stayed in the place. Could not just stay in a place were your feet stuck to floor. The bar was sticky as well but not as bad as the floor. I can't help the fact I am English and felt very unwelcome like something out of the Wicker Man. Avoid.
Loud music from club/bar below, very old fashioned decor, no en suite rooms and the toilet on our floor was dirty. No breakfast served but we didn’t expect much for £45. |The owners were very friendly but we really won’t be visiting again.
My partner and I stayed here whilst we were walking the Llyn coastal path. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help however, this didn’t make up for the room we stayed in. ||The single glazed windows meant that we were awake most of the night, the room was dirty and the plug sockets came off the wall when you took your plug out.
We booked this through another site but can honestly say we loved the apartment.|Everything you need is in the apartment!|The apartment itself was very clean. It had two stair cases and the second was steep!!|The owners are very helpful.||We will certainly book to stay there again.
