I have to say how well I’ve been treated by all the staff at this hospital but special thanks must go to Mr Gilbert’s secretary Liz who gathered all my notes together from unsuccessful consultations with other specialists and passed this onto the consultant and what a guy he was so reassuring and knew exactly what my knee problem was after carefully looking through the notes Liz had passed on to him. I want to get back to walking football and I’m very confident I will after my operation be able to return to the sport I have a real passion for. Thanks too for doing the X-ray and consultation together the guy in X-ray was great too as he had been through trauma with his knee in the past. Thanks guys it’s so much appreciated great people all round your all a credit to the NHS
I've tried to contact the hospital three times today and been kept on hold for over an hour each time, it's always the same. Patient excellence, where? I've just been on hold for the last time for 1 hour and 37 minutes, and have the phone records to prove it.
Absolutely excellent. From my first ankle fusion over a decade ago, to the fusion of the other last year and thumb fusion. The excellent level of care has never wavered. Thankyou to both Mr Karski and Mr Swamy and their teams, including admin who are so often overlooked.
Full knee replacement by Mr Oakley and his team. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough, from the minute I walked into ward D and walking out of Ward B exactly 24 hours later I couldn’t have been treated and looked any better if I was royalty. Everyone was so considerate, kind and respectful. The nursing team in particular on Ward B led by Sister Tracey were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, I had a much better experience this time as an NHS patient than I did as a private patient at another hospital this year. Thank you all again and continue to do the amazing and life changing you all do
I've waited for 7 years to get my knee op done.ACL repair and partial knee, The last 18 months were voluntary. My local NHS are superb, but I was given the option wait the extra time and go to Wrightington, for a more useful knee, a High Tibial Osteotomy was originally considered, but I was found not to quite meet the perimeters. It was a fair bit of travel to and from appointments but it was worth it. The place is staffed by ninjas I was assured. Top spec treatment....
I'm going home today and I'd happily stay...the team are outstanding, supporting, caring, motivational and a good injection of chat and humour.
Learning to fly crutches on my first escape from the ward, I went straight to the kitchen and thanked the chefs, you hear jokes about hospital food, but this was superb, great quality, quantity, choice and service. Everywhere gleaming and sparklingly clean.
I wish I was good at remembering, names and I'm not but there are so many, from pre op appointments, the booking in gang, my physio team, my anaesthetist team, Mr B and the surgical team, and the gang on Ward A and John Charnley Ward, liaising with my local people back home for me too. So many of you deserve an individual mention for going the extra mile to make our stay and recovery from a pretty sore week or so into a pleasant, memorable experience. I can't thank you enough.
There is no higher praise I could offer, outstanding folks! I have huge respect for the medical profession, I used to mentor student nurses as part of my job role and know what sacrifices you make through training, study and long shifts during and after training, every day is a school day and you folks keep the humour and the smile on, don't know how but you just do. I used to say to my student s as they left and moved on to their next placement "Go out there and make the
world a better place".
Huge, huge appreciation and respect, for all the team here, smashed the 6C's of nursing out of the park...
I'll miss the friendly, community atmosphere, my stunning en suite accommodation and the laughs and giggles with the teams. Even re stocked my meds to take home.
I'm honestly looking forward to coming back for my key hole repair on my long over compensated "good" knee...
God bless, stay safe and be happy team W.
You ARE Ninjas and you DO make the world a better place. Keep it up!
Greg.
