The best Chinese in Brockley they do local delivers & you can call before hand to pick up your meal. Very tasty especially the special fried rice noodles and spring rolls. nice staff too.
Really decent food, salt and pepper fried chicken was a standout for me - potentially a new weakness. Service is friendly and fast too!
Best Chinese in SE4 not greesy at all the chicken balls are "Amazing" and overall the food is very fresh.
I bought seafood however when I got to house and dished out the food tasted odd.Given it was seafood we did not risk it. I called and called the shop and no one answered so I went back however by the time I got there the shop was closed.
The next morning the entire downstairs smelt foul I realised it was the food so walked outside and threw it in communal bin.
Once the shop opened in the afternoon, I went back and raised my issue with the owner ; she denied it and claimed the food was good. Even though I relayed the smell she said I should've brought back to food. I challenged this as it was 21° outside therefore it had to be thrown.
I explained I was not focused on a refund but more to make her aware of the concern so no one ends up ill.She was so rude and dismissive and for that reason they have lost custom from a family 20.
My other concern is the only cash policy even in co-vid and I wonder if this is to do with tax evasion as its clearly not for safety reasons.
STAY AWAY! My partner & I ordered 2 "large" spring rolls, crispy won ton, he had chicken and black bean sauce with noodles in a "container" & I had sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style in a "container". The spring rolls were not large, they weren't even medium sized. The won tons hardly had any meat in them. The containers were polystyrene boxes that you get from the chippy so the sweet and sour sauce went everywhere. The chicken was absolutely GRIM, it was chewy, tasted off and sorry; the thought of it is making me feel sick so I won't go in to too much detail. I rang them to complain and she was arguing with me over the phone, basically telling me there was nothing she was going to do about it. The bit that I couldn't believe was this "you have eaten it now, so I can't re-sell it, there's nothing I can do". I am so shocked still, and will be reporting them to Environmental Health. Do not eat there, my partner & I both threw ours in the bin.
To this day, this is the best Chinese takeaway I have found in the SE4 area. And considering the competition in the dietary wasteland of fast food hell that is South East London, that is saying something. I have a theory. have a standard when trying a a new restaurant so that you have a benchmark to work from.
For me its the sweeet and sour chicken balls. This is the ONLY take away chinese in LONDON I have foudn so far where you can taste the chicken, the batter is tasty adn not too thick and most importantly of all you do not get a mouthful of vegetable oil when you take a bite... you get no oil at all, just chicken and batter... 11/10
Best Chinese in Brockley. Been eating from here since 1999. Never had a bad meal from here. I've tried others and always come back. NomNom
