The Windmill Tavern is a wonderful place to eat. Great choice of dishes for all the family which is fresh and cooked to order. Service is also great with very helpful staff. The windmill tavern itself is a wonderful building off the beaten track, quiet location with ample parking. The interior is very nice and has and been designed to. Offer a warm cost atmosphere.
Superb food all. Cooked fresh and you can tell, very friendly staff and the potions are massive. Awesome selection of gins and some. Really nice cask ales.
Had a lovely meal here whilst staying nearby. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and service was speedy. And they have a play area outside for children. Would definitely recommend.
Very clean and comfortable pub. Nicely decorated with nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. Plenty of room between tables. The service was quick and friendly. Good menu, not expensive, food was good, well cooked and hot. For beer drinkers very good cask beer. 3 pound a pint.
2.5 stars would be fairer I think
Friendly but very inexperienced staff. Things like not giving you a spoon for soup, not knowing what a dish was that they had brought you and not knowing what the fruit crumble was ... Despite them saying they had eaten it and it was nice. Quite inefficient. Just lots of little things that made it hard work.
But on the plus side the girls were all very well mannered and polite and you can tell they were nice people. I just get the impression they had been thrown in at the deep end without much guidance which is not their fault. They were doing their best.
The food was average pub food.
I don't like being critical especially with everyone working through the pandemic and doing their best and so I feel its fair to say it was a distinctly average experience.
Have not been to this pub for a long while and will certainly not go again. We went with a friend for my husband's birthday. Very slow service but we were prepared to wait as long as the food was good. The food was not good. Steak too well done although we had both asked for medium rare. Chips had been re-heated and were dry and discoloured. The waitress brought a dish of supposedly fresh chips, which turned out to be no better. The small amount of vegetables were frozen. Our friend had the steak and ale pie which she said was good. However, as we know, this sort of pub food comes to the pubs already prepared. All it needs is heating up. It is a different matter when the chef has to actually COOK a steak! As it was a Thursday night special, the rib-eye steak was £11 per person instead of the usual £15.95. £11 was too expensive for what we had, never mind £15.95! When we complained to the young man, who appeared to be the Manager, he seemed to be indifferent. Also, when settling the bill we were charged for drinks which my husband had already paid for at the bar in cash when we first arrived. Altogether, a very poor night out and one which will
not be repeated at The Windmill.
Very helpful the manager went out of his way to get me a couple of coffees with cream. When at a wake there was instant coffee on tap but we needed to have cream for a diet we were on.. Thank you for making our visit great.
Staying close by, had a beautiful gammon steak, with salad and vegetables. Happy to adapt meal to Keto diet and vinegar allergy. Helpful and friendly staff. Would highly recommend a visit, great value for money.
Good Real Ale. Well organised/spaced for Covid restrictions.
