I've been here quite a few times with ten tors training, nice area tbh, as long as there's no flags up you should be fine. I do recommend walking to hare tor if you have a dog or something, it's a pretty nice walk and good for exercise as hare can get quite steep
Great place to stop for a walk, just check the flags aren't flying!
It's a handy place to stop, just off the main road for a break if you're working in the area & traveling between Okehampton & Tavistock along the A386. It's fairly quiet & there are some nice views.
It's probably a good place to park to go for a walk on the moor's, but don't walk on the nearby Army firing range if the red flags are flying!
A free and large carpark on the western edge of Dartmoor national park. From here there is access to the willsworthy ranges along the military road. Do make sure you check for range firing times as this part of the moor is used by the military for live firing. If you see a red flag in the day, or red lights at night do not enter! The ranges are Interesting in themselves and the path through the ranges gives easy access to hare tor and doe tor. A steep climb up gives the walker, rider or biker access to the high northern moor. Do go prepared with appropriate kit for the conditions
Handy spot to park for some of the most spectacular areas of Dartmoor.
Please: No fires and take rubbish away with you. Leave only footprints.
Good sized car park with very few pot holes and it’s free! What more could you want from a carpark right on Dartmoor with excellent walking?
From the car park, you can walk through the Tavy Cleave, along the Rattlebrook., Head for Bleak House. Ruins on Dartmoor.
Right on the edge of Dartmoor.
