Had an unexpected experience at this 'DD&d' recommended spot. The food started off great, but I was taken aback when I found a bug crawling on my dish. The situation wasn't handled as I would've hoped by the staff, which added to the disappointment. The atmosphere inside was also not my cup of tea. I believe there's room for improvement in both service and ambiance. Unfortunately, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this place based on my visit.
This is an amazing diner style restaurant. They have everything you could want, from breakfast to brunch, lunch, and dinner.

This is a must see destination whenever we visit Chicago.
Old school 24hr diner with friendly staffs, regulars and comfort food. They have a big menu with sandwiches as their specialties. For a diner I’m just glad fresh fruit salad is an option for my fried chicken!
I can’t say this apply to everything but I like that despite the type of food and in the amount they offer, I came out feeling full but not sickly with grease/fat!
Do not park in any parking lots nearby. Chicago will tow you. My husband Chicken wasn't great, dry but my food was good. Mashed potatoes were fabulous. Waitress was wonderful.
White Palace in my opinion should be landmark status at this point. It's one of a few places to eat in the city still open 24 hours. Though the menu appears to be that of your classic "greasy spoon," the quality of the food is top notch for everyday dishes. Every person I've come in contact with, that works in there has a great attitude and sunny disposition. This will be one of my go too-s if I need a late night bite.
Stopped here and got the patty melt. Was decent and came with soup. Not bad for the price.
Despite the busy intersection the place was very quiet and offered an intimate atmosphere. I was greeted and seated immediately and food was out very quickly.
Chicken noodle soup was great and I'm not a soup person.
Fries were perfectly crispy and great dipped in ranch and A1.
A1 burger was pretty big but cooked perfectly.
Very positive experience all round and will come back if I'm ever in Chicago again.
I had the best Greek salad of my life today at White Palace Grill! Anchovies, olives, onions, feta, tomatoes- so fresh and delicious! My friend had yummy meatloaf with thin, tasty garlic bread. Waitress Cheryl was a delight! A little pricey for diner food, but it was a fantastic lunch! Nice atmosphere too!
