Dog friendly but do bag up any Barker eggs your chums leave.

Friendly. Warm and inviting
Friendly and understanding owners and good beers. We had a distressed toddler with us who was accommodated with great professionalism! Advisable to check opening hours as this is not an "all day" place but definitely worth a visit. We are newly local to the area and will be returning.
||||Holidaying locally and having researched the best places to go, our family of six plus dog set off on a wander through the Forrest of Dean with a view to stopping off at the White Horse for a lazy afternoon of drinks before heading home for dinner. We checked the Website and it confirmed the bar was open all day. Upon reaching the White Horse after a long walk in the 29degree heat we were disappointed to say the least to find it closed .. Locals advised us it should be open and as we sat in the garden deciding our next course of action a gentleman appeared at the upstairs window to advise us bar was closed and would not open until 7pm ... A decision had been taken to close the bar due to the area not being busy ... What would have been very welcoming would have been the offer of a drink before we set off on our hour long walk home .. The Website had obviously not been updated and surely under a "duty to trade" we could have been hydrated and gone away happy tourists .. Very disappointing indeed and the experience wouldn't encourage us to venture back .... Shame, as area is very pretty and merits long lazy walks followed by a welcoming drink ..... Taxi to the Saracen Head found us fed and watered with the warmest hospitality and fine local produce ... Fantastic!
Emailed Day before as staying in the Area. Chef did us a three course meal all vegan! Was lovely would recommend! Mushrooms in a ragu sauce, Chickpea curry, goulash and a fruit compote with rice pudding and a creme angkaise topping! Yum!
One of the best local pubs I have been to, great bear, dog friendly and friendly locals, run by some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
A local pub which provided good honest refreshments. Landlord extremely solicitous and eager to help and encourage a return visit. Sadly we returned a couple of days later on Sunday lunchtime and didn't stay as they only offered roast dinners which we didn't want.
