It has been a while since I tried this place. I enjoyed the casual dining and the more unique food dishes.
The place has a great outdoor vibe to it and perfect if you wanted to come grab a bite and a beer.
The place was very busy and the server was running around and we had to chase him down whenever we needed something.
The wings were delicious! I ordered the steak sandwich and it was good with good flavor.
The prices were a little higher for what you get but it is safety harbor!
I am not sure if I would come back as this a a place that you either like it or not. So you definitely should try it and it may be to your liking. My friends said they liked it a lot and would return.
Staff was super friendly and helpful with making recommendations! Got the brussle sprout appetizer, YUM! And the Black & Blue steak salad except sub the blue cheese for feta. My sister ordered the black bean burger ???? all of it was delicious!
While vacationing in Safety Harbor, I decided to stop here for two reasons. One it always seemed busy driving by. Always a good sign that the food is good. Two I read online that they had good crab cakes.
So I decided to stop for a late lunch one day. Unfortunately, they no longer serve crab cakes but many other good choices. I dined alone so I was somewhat taken aback that it took quite a while before someone came to seat me. There was no one ahead of me.
But once I was seated my waiter was very attentive. It is kind of an outdoor restaurant but they have plastic walls up with plastic windows. It was a bit cooler and a bit windy that day.
I decided to order appetizers as my lunch. I had Seared Sea Scallops with Avocado Tomato Salsa which were delicious one the best I have ever had. I also tried the WSG Fried Green Tomatoes (Family Style). This was very good but I think it would have been better to share it with others as intended by being an appetizer. The waiter brought over some balsamic vinegar to drizzle on to which added an extra touch to it.
It is definitely worth a visit.
As Safety Harbor seems to be bursting at the seams with new eateries, there's still a fun, delicious, outdoor staple....The Whistle Stop!! Upscale food in a beautiful setting, it never disappoints and I've been coming here for over 20 years . We walked Main Street along with a lot of peeps but found most places were very high priced. The Tides and Bar Fly were out of bounds expensive. We ended up at the place we know....a great bar, fantastic food at reasonable prices and an awesome atmosphere.....The Whistle Stop ????
Cool place with a lot of outdoor seating. Service was great and the food was delicious. I had the burger (of course) and I have no complaints.
In honor of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes which is currently on Netflix, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out Whistle Stop Grill and Bar! Now I did not order fried green tomatoes, however I got the honey sriracha wings and let me tell you???????????? with side of sweet potatoes fries???? the weather was beautiful so outside dinning was nice. I will say they were a little short handed but service was good. Maybe another time, I'll try those fried green tomatoes ????
This place, this menu, this staff are great!!!
We spent hours interacting with the bartenders and other guest around the bar laughing and eating.

So much for updates. When I talked to the manager she said next time you come in there’s a $50 gift card waiting. Went again and no gift card and the manager they never heard of.
Updating this review. I received a response from the manager. I understand there are oops in the restaurant business and the response from them was genuine.
Most of my reviews are 4 and above. I was taught if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. But I think the owner really needs to know this information. We were a table of six. The waitress told half the table the specials. 4 of us got our food much earlier than the other 2 and even though we started eating as soon as we got it, everything was cold. Frizzle onions should be called frizzle crumbs because that’s what I got. One of the group had salmon and they forgot the rice. My margarita was mostly ice and a ton of mix. My husbands old fashioned was 4 sips. And the appetizer came with the dinner. The black and blue burger had potential but the bun was boring and one of us had onions and the other had tomatoes which neither of us ordered on our burger. The burgers needed a sauce. It was a seasoned dry piece of meat on a boring bun.
