A typical working class pub that's honest with its origins.
I first saw this pub when I went on what felt like a ridiculous walk with some friends from school. My sister was young so got scared and ran home when we got past our street. Although it felt like many miles away, it was actually about 200 yards from my then home (I was 9 at the time).
Sadly, the reason why I visited here recently was for my dad's wake. The venue was warm, odourless and welcoming... and all other things you'd expect from a pub used by miners back in the day.
If I still lived here I would recommend it for a relaxed atmosphere. Not sure about the food as it was a platter of many things, but the buffalo wings were wonderful.
We stopped off mid dog walk for a quick pint, I can only comment on the beer garden but it was a really nice atmosphere with dog walkers and families enjoying the space. We didn't let our dog on the inflatable castle or play area though.
I would give this a 1 star but I have to leave at least one. Came here for a 30th birthday party- the service was shocking, and the food was shocking. But the worst thing was the old man at the bar at the end of the night who apparently is the owner… we had leftover food and asked for clingfilm which he gave us, wrapped up the tray of leftovers and he came in asking for the plastic tray saying he reuses it, I said if he’s bothered by 1 tray I’ll buy it and how much does he want to charge, I got the death stare. So we had to unpack all the food and he offered me 2 bag for life bags instead for bitsy sarnies. Utter joker. Will never go back. The amount of money we paid and the service was terrible. Do not recommend to anyone
Not been out in Killamarsh for over 8 years as moved away. Everyone welcoming smashing place
used to be my local and tbh nothing has changed in the 7 years since I last visited. ok for a few beers but no real atmosphere
Always a lovely welcome at the West End. Been to a party today. Buffet was excellent. Plenty of room for children to play in the garden i.e. swings slides and climbing frames. Overall good old style pub.
Great place for a quiet drink or a family gathering , nice big field for kids to burn off energy whilst being safe , staff are very friendly and good atmosphere .
A good, traditional pub.
