After have several really good fish and chips from here I was very disappointed with the haddock and chips I ordered on Friday. The fish was dry (obviously been cooked quite some time before) the chips weren't fresh and both were luke warm .
I'm hoping they were having an off night because the food previously was lovely.
Due to the cost of living increases fish and chips is a treat and unfortunately it ended up in the bin.
We tried to fish and chips the other day and my mother and I and we were very impressed with the price and fresh cooking. The ladies in the shop were fantastic. We're coming again today. Thank you very much. .
This is a nice little chip shop. The food was hot and plentiful. I had the fish chips, sausage, mushy peas and a couple of bread rolls. There was a large selection of cooked food when I was there it was very hot, but I don’t know how long it would last or if they were expecting a rush. The batter on the fish and sausages was crisp and the chips were well seasoned and fresh. Unfortunately the bread rolls were burger baps so sorry not to my taste. The staff were friendly and helpful.

My 10 year old son absolutely loves ‘chip man chips’ on a Thursday we always treat him to his chips after football training! First time in trying this little gem! I fully trust my son opinion, he is a chip connoisseur!! Very picky eater , He has an appetite with what he enjoys but it can be hard at times! The ladies serving was lovely, lots of light hearted banter with him. They asked me to come back to let them know what he thinks of their chips. So….
He loves them! And yes!! He finished the portion! Lol He has now chosen you as his ‘chip man’ so expect to see us every Thursday!

‘Welcome’ fish bar ?? ???? a change of name or attitude needed here ! Food aint that bad, if you like your chicken curry reheated for 10 minutes in an old microwave but the chips are good. Service with a smile isn’t on the menu and the girl serving had the personality of a corpse ! I know it’s not a highly skilled position but a ‘hello’ or a ‘thank you’ doesn’t need a degree. I’ve been going there for years on n off and I don’t think i’ve ever seen them smile for anyone. Hey ho it is what it is !
On the 18/03/2023 was the second time I had attended the dilapidated food premises, as a last result, due to other local chip shops being closed. The premises has a dated 1980's appearance and atmosphere.
In terms of customer service, I have found the older female staff member, somewhat unfriendly.
On this occasion, I was not accompanied with my partner and it was empty at the time.
I stood in the food premises waiting for several minutes before being served. I could hear people talking in the back of the outlet. Eventually the older female staff member appeared, made no eye contact, spoke to me with a monosyllabic tone... no courtesy apology.
I was very polite to the staff member. So was unsure why the staff member appeared rude and pedantic? I must admit, I have returned several times to other food outfits, despite food has not been of the best quality, but their customer care service, has been second to none!
I got the impression that they possibly serve very little consumers of ethnicity (if any). I am so glad of modern technology, so one did not give her the opportunity to express their discontent via the exchange of psychical currency!
Will not be attending there again, and have informed all friends and family members of such experience!
