We were visiting Athens and decided to google restaurants. When I saw the green building and pulled up on the premises it took me back to southern church days. Church anniversary days to be specific at the little old church built with center blocks. The aroma of the fried chicken and collard green drew me in!!!! I just knew we would not be disappointed. Our food was hot and fresh! The restaurant score card: 99A. This made for a perfect experience. Great to meet the owner and his staff; Mr. Weaver D., Dorothy, and Dominique. They were awesome! True soul food is a rarity these days, but Weaver D- Got It Right! ????
Y’all I worked in Athens for a week and had to check out Weaver D’s! I arrived late afternoon and had opportunity to sit by the cooks and y’all I got the secret on why their turnip greens taste so good!! Love the food and atmosphere!
I just went earlier today. Words cannot express how delicious my food was. The atmosphere felt homey and cute, I was treated like family, though I've only been once. Fried Chicken was absolutely AMAZING, crispy, delicious, juicy, sent from heaven. They have really good cornbread muffins as well. I would highly recommend going there!
Great food! I got the fried pork chop, mac, and collard greens. Everything was A+.
The service definitely leaves plenty of room for improvement. The gentleman taking orders was impatient and unpleasant. Being from out of town, I expected a little more southern hospitality that I always heard of.

Oh my. Dexter a/k/a Weaver D and the only other person working, a lady, were exhausted from three big days in a row of catering at large events. My 20 year old son and I went after the UGA G Day Spring Game, and they were about to close up early because both were running on fumes. We relished what they still had, fried chicken, stir fried veggies, green beans, mashed taters and red velvet cake. It was all so good it almost put my late great Mama's delicious home cooking to shame, and that speaks volumes. I have wanted to come here for ages and now regret waiting. If we did not scarf our food down dang fast I would include photos.
Excellent and authentic southern food. We had the pork chops and the fried chicken, along with collard greens and mac & cheese, and it was delicious! Not much of a dine-in place, but definitely a must try "to-go" while in Athens.
I have been living in Athens for 44 years and today was my first day ever going to this restaurant. It did not disappoint! Fast service. Good customer service. Great presentation. And it tastes great. It isn't over-seasoned oh, it isn't salty oh, it's just right.
It’s a mess. I’d return for the experience, atmosphere, and people, but I would not return for the food, service, or cleanliness. No one wore a hairnet or washed their hands—the owner transitions from various roles in his restaurant, which I admire. However, one should not come in, see the owner eating with his bare hands, then go up to the register with those same dirty hands and serve us, handing us our cups, cards, etc.
This place has potential, but I wouldn’t go back.
