Called asking for a trim and hair gloss, specifying that I had long, color-treated hair. The girl on the phone thought for a while and said that was fine and $55 for just the cut and extra for color. Got a text the next day asking me to confirm a 45 minute appointment for a short hair cut. I called the salon and spoke with the owner to rectify the mistake— she said I was booked for a cut only but we could do toner maybe (maybe??). I said I would try to come early if I could.
Traffic was bad and I showed up exactly at my appointment time. She said “u said you would show up 30 minutes ago, early” (I made no promises). She said she would just do a cut and it would look fine, my hair color looked nice without toner. i have bleached black hair— it was giving Florida Natural 100% orange juice in the bottle at sunset. I asked if we could go darker, she just said no, it's not necessary (lol). She used redken purple shampoo (the same one I use at home) and rubbed some Moroccan oil in and gave me choppy layers with a >4 inch difference between the layers. The blowout sort of camouflaged the results until i did a wash at home.
At check out she said $75 and I could buy the Moroccan oil for $20 (it’s $15 at the cvs). I don't usually leave critical reviews but I booked that appointment for graduation photos, and my hair looks whack in all of them lmao. If you have East Asian straight hair just go to Headquarters or Volar in Chinatown and get the same results for $30 less.
Edit: also I asked if there was anything she could do cut wise to give me more volume bc I felt like my hair was thinning. She said "I can tell" and held up a clump of my hair and asked why it was falling out lmao
Hands down, the best nail salon I’ve ever visited in Chicagoland area. Always accommodating, always consistent, and always the PERFECT manicure. Vicki deserves all the esteem for her work. She’s very attentive to detail and always makes sure that the final product is exactly what you envisioned. Love this salon!
I got the best manicure (no-chip) I have ever gotten at Mercy. The girls were so sweet and even were able to bring me back a little early when I showed up ahead of my appointment. The attention to detail on my nails was amazing - my cuticles look incredible and the actual manicure is flawless! Will definitely be coming back :)
I have been going to Vikki for a couple months now and she's wonderful. My hair looks great! And it has been pretty easy to get an appointment for last minute bang trims when I foget to schedule them in advance, which I appreciate. The salon is clean and bright. I got a manicure there once as well, and I forget the name of the woman who did it, but she did a great job, was gentle on my cuticles, and the polish actually seemed to last longer than usual even though it was just a regular manicure. Magic!
Vicki is awesome! I’ve been going to Mercy Beauty Spa for a couple of years now. I have thick Asian hair and not a lot of stylist know how to cut it. Vicki does a great job every time. I don’t even have to tell herb what I want - she just knows what to do. I would highly recommend!
I am heartbroken that this places is relocating! I was so excited to find a salon again after moving to the area. One of the BEST haircuts I've ever had in my life was here. I will be following in hopes that you are near when you relocate.
Mercy is the best salon. I am a permanent costumer of Vicki and I have been going to her more than 10 years for haircut . I don’t live close I live in north suburbs. Even though her salon is far it is totally worth the trip. Every time I got hair cut she always makes it look so fabulous. I got a lot of compliments for my hair from a lot of people and they always ask were I go to get my hair cut. I don’t like to get same haircuts all the time so every time I got different style haircut from previous haircut and she always does a excellent job. She knows what would look good on me and she knows what I like. I have tried other hair dressers before since I live so far but it was always a disaster. I will only have Vicki cut my hair as long as she is hair dresser. She is the best hairdresser ever. I’m highly recommend her to everyone.
I just had the absolute BEST facial from Mira! I knew she had magical hands from her waxing my brows for more than a decade, but this facial was wonderful. I was so relaxed and comfortable, that I had to check the time because the hour went by too quickly. And although I'm a makeup girl, I walked around fresh face for the rest of the day because it felt so good. The next day was even better! Mira is amazing!!!!!!
