Lovely food, especially the chops from the Afghan grills, but space inside is really small and busy. The front of restaurant waiting / queuing system is really poorly managed. People getting angry due to misunderstandings and poor management. I loved the food but i would avoid as it’s too chaotic when I was seeking a nice an evening meal. I was also surprised how small it was inside. Restaurant really needs more space inside. Avoid busy periods in the evening to fully enjoy this place!
Watan offers a welcoming atmosphere, especially during iftar time. Arriving early spared us from the crowd, thanks to the accommodating waiter who promptly seated us. As the evening progressed, the restaurant filled up, with eager diners waiting outside. Despite the rush, the staff remained friendly and provided excellent customer service throughout our visit.
When it came to the food, the Afghan mix grill platter was a mixed bag. While some items were enjoyable, such as the flavorful lamb chops, other meats turned out disappointingly dry. However, this minor setback didn't overshadow the overall positive experience. Watan is a fine choice for those seeking a warm ambiance, friendly service, and a satisfying meal.
It was average experience, I was expecting more. Restaurant ambience is average with the five star food and hygiene rating by the local council.
Chicken and lamb. Sheesh kebab meat quality was good but average flavour. Lamb chops were good, chicken tikka look good and saffron rice with no saffron.
Was it worth for the money? I would say I have a better choices

I would recommend getting a curry along with the platter as the platter consists of dry grilled items and rice.
The Lamb Chops are cooked to medium. The Butter Chicken is sweet at tasty.
Also, worth going at lunch. Theres hardly anyone in there.

I ordered Mix Grill and Dum Chicken Biryani. To be fair, it was the best spiced biryani I have eaten at a restaurant, grill was also cooked well and spices tasted to be authentic.
Premises are not too huge and at busy times there could be queues and waiting time will be well around/over an hour so plan accordingly.
Great place for Pakistani/ afghan food. Family platter and chapli kebab were tasty. Karahi was OK. Lots of seating but very busy so had to wait around one hour. Worth waiting

Mix grill with Saffron rice,the choop was uncooked and salty,spice...
Dry rice no flavour.
2. Paya too salty and spice,plus is like curry full of colour red/orange...
I try lots restaurants, but this is very bad.
And also service charge £2.50 5%.
No luxury,simple plate white.
For £52 we can have good food and tasty.
This is salad full or carrots,no cucumbers or tomato.

No happy,no return.
Had dinner with my brother and our wives. Atmosphere was good and food was nice too. Main reason for the 5 stars was the service. Hats of the the brother who fixed the food and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Will recommend the restaurant
