Very nice guy at the door who was ready for my banter! Gave me a fine solo table. Clean and very pleasant with outdoor as well as a tavern type atmosphere for eating indoors. I liked my waiter/waitress but they were slow with the soup and drink refill. I ordered a cup of chowder, very rich, enough clams - but prefer aLittle less crème. Fish and chips could be better. and the Cole slaw was not good. Still I enjoyed it here. Lucky to be able to eat out at all!
If you’re looking for a historical and enjoyable experience, definitely recommend the Warren Tavern. It was my first time in Charlestown and I loved how everything was kept to par when it came to the historic and aesthetic aspects of the restaurant.
Ordered:
Lobster Roll & Truffle Fries
Lobster Mac & Cheese
Cajun Chicken Loaded Nachos
Clam Chowder
The lobster entrees had big and juicy pieces!
Recommended with enthusiasm.
Historical building with preserved character.
Yes, the clam chowder was the star of our show today as many have written.
Delicious.
Keep in mind that it is hearty so as small as a cup may look, it is very tasty but filling.
Both the shepherds pie and baked haddock were tasty as well. Appears to have a flavorful, tempting menu making it a bit challenging to choose.
Will definitely visit again.
A beautiful pub with the perfect New England atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and the food was top notch. Honestly the best clam chowder and beef stew I have ever had. The drink I got was the old fashioned tea party and it was just incredibly good. I can't say enough about this place. It was wonderful.
Our first time here in this historic venue but won't be our last. The steak and cheese roll appetizers were good and arrived piping hot. Our burgers and chicken sandwich were delicious and cooked perfectly. You can't beat the ambiance and can almost feel the history as you sit and look around.
Food was great and tasty.... and of great value. Probably the better clam chowder I've had in the city. It is quite thick (you can literally stick a spoon into it and it will hold, if you get the cup portion).
Only issue is that they may make a mistake with orders (got a bousin burger, when I ordered a tavern burger...no issue though...since the food was tasty either way), and check your order at the end...I got charged desert twice.
But overall....a nice pub-fare and friendly service.
Would come back again.
Another place that has been on my "To Visit" list for a long time. The Plymouth Plantation sandwich was phenomenal, as an article I read stated. The chowder was also excellent, and they had a very hard-to-find beer (Heady Topper, if you know, you know ..). The service was exceptionally nice, and I have a soft spot for historic restaurants. This place was great!
The food and service were both excellent! I wish I remembered my waitress name. She was very nice. We had a cup of chowder- which might have been the best I have ever had- and steak tips and lobster mac & cheese.. everything came out perfect. We will be back!
