Shocking service just waited 2 weeks for telephone consultation. My phone never rang went straight to boicemail for some reason so missed call. Have just spent half an hour on hold to told need to wait another 2 weeks on phonecard. No wonder so many people end up seriously ill or its too late for treatment.service is getting worse.
UPDATE: Put in for a repeat prescription and didnt recieve a confirmation email to say it was ready. Went in to the pharmacist bit to check and was told to call the Drs. 2 HOURS WAITING IN THE QUEUE!!! All for the receptionist to act like she had a stick up her arse and make out as if i hadnt requested it sooner. I explained twice that its been a week and she said how thats impossible because they are signed off by doctors end of every day. She wasn't any help at all but luckily the pharamicist helped me and managed to get them sorted.....Since putting in my most recent request which was on Saturday, I've still yet to receive any sort of confirmation email (even though the receptionist was adamant they are sorted every day. So I was either lied to or she was just uneducated on the matter.
Can't even get through to make an appointment. Loads of times in the past, I've given up trying to get through. Took me 73 tries once to get through.
I have no words!
A part of one single example when receptionist helped me out with my prescription THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE.
You must call at 8.00 (hard when u work full time) to hear you are 40th in the queue. I called at 11.00, was 4th a queue and after 30min still didn't get through.
I asked for a doctor phone call but "i can't dictate" the time when they call me, and I finish work after 4.00
Ist a third week when I'm waiting to speak to doctor no one call me today, an I did call them to say I'm available, I was assured someone will phone me and they never did!
I hope I can find another practice.
In order to get seen by the doctors, I would be requested to ring at 8pm as there is always no doctors that I can contact during the day.
So I try and ring up at 8pm sharp and my call log would be backed up with attempts about 20 or more times, one time I have had over 110 attempts before I got an answer and a solid hour wasted just to get the "the surgery is now closed" message and then rudely cuts you off. (This has happened multiple times)
You get a dopamine hit from actually getting through to the doctors because you had to graft for it.
Some of the receptionists are more like gatekeepers when it comes to trying to get a call back when you do get connected.
Some times I call for private reasons but they won't let you get connected and demand why you need to speak to a doctor, you would think that they would act like they care about privacy but they just don't.
Some receptionist staff are pretty rude and sometimes argumentative and a lot of the time provide false information, making you do unnecessary hoops.
If I wanted to jump through hoops, i'd join a circus but not when I want to get better.
Pharmacy is good, never had an issue with them so they get an extra star rating, the doctors get another star rating as they are normally top notch and the doctor I have is very good and doesn't rush you out the door.
Prescriptions are pretty fluid in process but some of the receptionists and a better queuing system for the general patient needs a bit of work.
This surgery was good pre-pandemic but since the pandemic hit, has took a steep decline.
Update: moving the review from 3 star to 2 due to wallacetown constantly not updating my address, they have confirmed 5 times that they have changed my address only to hear that its still the old address, I'm done with the phone lottery at 8am, im done with not being seen, a gp that doesnt even provide ANY service whatsoever is appalling. Its a catch 22 where, if you want to be seen by a doctor, they will expect you to spam the call button for half an hour straight even to get a prescription renewed, no wonder people aren't getting better. I have had 0 sleep last night due to running out of sleeping pills and wallacetown seems to not give a damn by the looks of their ridiculous setup of phone lottery. Well done, wallacetown, you are the most incompetent GP in Dundee. Bravo. I get more customer service from the beeps of the dead rings than I do with any of your staff.
Formerly at Douglas Medical Centre, I am now at Wallacetown. I am very pleased with the centre. It is local to me and has adequate car parking. It is relatively easy for me to get a face to face or virtual appointment, far easier than the anecdotal evidence that I hear of other places. My only gripe is that, I am one of those patients with a long term illness and I know more about it than the doctors. Sometimes, I want to send a non urgent request but there is no email address that I can use. If there was one, it would reduce the doctor's workload even more.
Absolute joke of a place. I've been with this Practice for several years and always had issues getting appointments (even before covid) and dealing with exceptionally rude reception staff!
I get that it is a very stressful environment and with covid adding to that it must be hell. But that doesn't mean that the reception staff have to be the most rude and unhelpful they can be. Seriously lacking customer care skills which should be top priority for a customer faced role.
Todays rude rude encounter was the final straw. I am now looking for somewhere else which is sad because the doctors, nurses, pharmacy staff etc are all fantastic. But they are seriously let down by the staff on reception/answering phones.
Shockin standards of service, phones never answered, rude staff wen calls finally answered, not good enough. Patients being left for days without medication because they cant order prescriptions with phones being constantly ignored.
The Surgery and Pharmacy at Wallacetown are excellent, I've never had a problem. In fact, they have picked up on things that other doctors have missed. Honestly the staff here are great and really take their jobs seriously. I've had phone calls from the pharmacist even checking up on my progress and offering advice. These guys go above and beyond what i am used to so im very happy to give them a well deserved 5 out of 5.
