The food is great. Good portions. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area or driving through this area. Stop by you won't be disappointed. I recommend the beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes. But if that is not your cup of tea. They have a great menu with plenty of options. I love these mom and pop types of diners.
Such a welcoming sweet place to eat! All the staff was so nice. Food was very good, like what you fix at home. Hopefully we get back this way and get to come here again ❣️
The food was really nice. The food size was great! Everything came out correct and very tasty. They only had one line cook, but the wait was really not bad. The deserts were all homemade and delicious.
Well worth traveling off the highway to find this gem! Hand formed burgers! This was delicious!
Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff and was very welcomed when we came in. We had just got done doing two cave tours at Carter Caves and had planned to come here. I’m SO glad we did. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely come back!!
Friendly staff. Missed out on the open roast beef sandwich which was the special, we didn't see the sign ????. Enjoyed our food. I had a chicken Philly sub with tater tots and my husband had pulled pork with onion rings.
UPDATE: Downgraded review four to three stars. Noted my last monthly visits my Walker burger was v. dry. I watched cook this time and they had a bacon press and was pressing down on the burgers. Hard. Multiple times. Two handed hard. Got my order and yes, too dry. Going to call them out on it next visit. There is only one time you press a burger, and that's when you first throw it on the flat top - a gentle press to make sure it's in contact. You *never* keep squishing away at it. Rest of burger and order was fine.
ORIGINAL COMMENTS: Been by there twice on my way to and from, had double Walker Burger and onion rings both times.
Very good two handed burger. Don't order unless you're really hungry, go for the single. Looks like they use 'real' hamburger, not the pre-made patties. Onion rings are real too, not the chopped up extruded ones.
Place can't be properly called a hole-in-the-wall, not truck stop either since you're not going to get a tractor trailer anywhere near it. It's on a back, one-way street behind the Post Office. Park in the gravel lot nearby and walk over. Spots in front are for the take out orders. I love small towns. Pull in, tap the horn, they'll take your order and bring your bag out. Saw a steady stream of orders while I was there.
So, yes, I can recommend them. I don't care about the 'ambience', or ferns in the windows, just give me a good meal and I'm happy. They're in a small community and always a stream of locals eating there or picking up. Olive Hill is hanging on by their fingernails and deserves the business.
A good solid four stars for a good burger.
I had the catfish sandwich which was delicious. My daughter had the fiery chicken sandwich and we were both very happy with the food.
