I traveled by dogsled from Tin City to Whales in 1963. There was nothing there but a small Eskimo population. We spent a night in one of their homes singing hymns (the only songs they knew) and drinking beer.
Finding these pictures of an airport surprises me. There was a small airstrip at Tin City used to supply the radar station. But nothing like what I see on the pictures of the area now.
Next time I will check the flight boards more carefully... Currently thousands of miles away from home nobbling cold.
When I booked the flight, I was in a hurry to go to Wales. Smooth landing, fast customs, good shops, good stop. Recommended to everyone.
Beautiful vacation spot- Can't go wrong here. The beach resort was not as crowded, which was awesome. Only issue I ran into was the lack of sunscreen. Seems like they were sold out everywhere, so make sure you bring plenty of it. It's sunny with a dry heat, as opposed to Florida where its hot and humid. :)
Unfortunately I can't say I'm not disappointed by Wales. The country was a lot smaller than I expected and a lot colder too. I was unable to locate my beach resort and when I tried to ask the locals where the famous castles were they were genuinely clueless.
Truly a incredible experience, the security at this airport is really tight and ticket people just gave me the tickets! Its very nice here, and the 5 story airport was very beautiful from the marble staircases to the red carpets seeing my exit. The people where nice here, but the Airport was better.
Misleading reviews.
I'd been told this was an amazing place to vacation, truly dissapointing. There was no wifi and the ammenities we're rubbish. Would not visit again.
Great little resort town on the beach. Wonderfull hot stone massage at the spa. Be sure to drop by the brewery for a cold IPA and the best chicken wings in town. For the adventurous there is wonderful scuba spot south of Wales point just west of the nude beach.
