I really enjoyed the food here. I would recommend coming here if wanting to experience west African dishes. It was cold in the restaurant but the manager sorted it out instantly by adding 2 portable heaters to the shop floor.
There was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive but it did not disappoint. The only disappointment was receiving 3 slices of plantain ????
The waitress attended to us and double checked our order which I really appreciated especially as I have an allergy to fish.
They also sell additional items such as plantain crisps, chin chin and porridge pots.
I did also see a separate room which I think you can hire for private parties.
The toilets were clean and there were 2 extra toilet rolls. I would recommend reed diffuser sticks in the toilets instead of putting Lenor unstoppable scent washing boosters on the floor.
This meal is absolutely delicious ???? ! ... i can tell that you put a lot of love ❤️ and care into preparing this ???? . The presentation of the dishes is so impressive! I love ❤️ how you incorporated such unique and flavorful ingredients. I look NO further when ordering PARTY ???? Food ???? .
If you like African cuisine and/or wish to try it for the first time, this is the place to go.
They have a spread out of fish and beef dishes and also a variety of rice dishes. My favourite was rice with black beans and how could I forget the fish curry.
The curries are rich in spices but not hot at all, to suit the palate of all, especially who prefer the mild taste.
They also have very spacious seating inside which is concealed from the front of the store.
Staff are friendly and always happy to help and advice.
They have a huge display of African snacks, savoury as well as sweet.
Excellent food, portions are good and the price is reasonable. The staff are super friendly and always willing to help and understand your needs. Honestly this one of the few Ghanaian restaurants I would recommend. I visit very often.
Amazing food for a great price and fantastic service from both Linda and Olivia who made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Definitely will be returning!
Not welcoming, not willing to help with the menu, plus got upset when I asked to warm a meat pie. I got the meat pie I really wanted to have eaten then, half cold. Put me off returning, after being so excited to have Ghanaian food right near my house. Being in the UK they should be open to other cultures trying to explore their culture and try to be a bit more friendly to ensure returning customers.
The waiteress wasn't nice at all. The eating area floor was very sticky and uncomfortable.
The cutlery was dirty and the wakye wasn't nice either.
I am surprised this place is called wakye joint. My wife felt sick after eating the food that was served to us. I wouldn't recommend.
Nowhere near the quality and consistency that was served when this restaurant first opened.
Food is now bland and missing key ingredients. Egusi stew is missing that rich depth of flavour (where’s the palm oil)? Pounded yam - too white in colour and dry. Okro stew had no palm oil either. Cow foot had not been cooked long enough and was so tough as to be inedible. The kelewele had too much bite and had obviously been cooked with plantain that had not been allowed to ripen sufficiently.
Will look elsewhere for my next Ghanaian meal.
